Our symphony orchestra at our high school contains about 100 members overall. Last year, there were two flutes and two piccolos. It all depends on what your orchestra director needs, though. Good luck!

It really depends on what piece is being performed and what type of orchestra you are in. For example, a standard professional orchestra has 2-3 flute players and one of them usually doubling on piccolo. Some orchestral pieces don't have any flutes and some can call for quite a few. If you are in a non-professional orchestra or student orchestra the conductor might want to double parts or put 2 people on each part for the experience. However, tuning can sometimes be a problem. Hope this helps!

The most common number is generally two. One to cover first flute and one to cover second flute. There is also usually a piccolo/third flute player as well. It is definitely different than the number you would see in a band.

Average is 3-4 depending on the orchestra and piece that's being performed. If it's a small chamber orchestra, then one or two flutes maybe all that's needed. In a three member flute section, it's often one per part (1st flute, 2nd flute, piccolo).
In a 4 piece flute secition, one player usually doubles another part (usually second flute) or may play a second piccolo part or alto flute.

It depends on what a particular piece calls for. I am a professional orchestra musician. We usually have two flutes onstage, sometimes we also have a piccolo, sometimes three flutes , sometimes three plus the piccolo, sometimes only one flute. The most I have ever seen in one symphonic piece was seven.

But, for most of our repertoire it is two flutes.

Usually two. Sometimes three, plus the third flute plays piccolo. Really huge scores might use more. There are some scores that use only ONE flute. But the safe, mostly, mainly answer is two - and two clarinets, two oboes, and two bassoons.

i play the flute, and in a well balenced band there is one woodwind to every two brass players. So if the orchestra has 150 people, there should be like 50 woodwinds/ 7-10 flutes. hope i helped, but it really depends on the director/conductor. good luck if you are thinking of doing it!

Usually two depending on the size of the orchestra! One principal and another one that doubles on the piccolo.

Honestly, PLEASE ask her out. NO girl wants to make the first move, as the guy is expected to do that. You like her so just go for it and ask her out, worth the try since she probably IS interested in you! Even if she doesn't what's the worst thing that can happen? She probably wants you to ask her out. And don't wait too long to do so because if you do, she'll probably think you're a really shy guy who isn't ready or doesn't want to get into anything and she'l move on! Remember, just because she didn't make a move, doesn't mean she isn't interested in you. It's cute and classic for the guy to make the first move. Good luck :)

it really depends how big the orchestra is. i play the flute and there are about 25-30 of us. the band has maybe 120-150 people....
this is just an estimate but there are more clarinets and flutes when compared to every other instrument.
