I could save money by hiring illegal immigrants, but then I would only be adding to the problem. I am willing to pay a higher price for American workers.

I'm with you. I'm also willing to pay a higher price to hire a company that hires only legal employees and a higher price for goods that come from such companies.

Yes. I hire only citizens, even though there are so many illegal aliens around here.
And the kid who cuts my lawn is a 15 year old from up the road, he is a citizen, his parents are citizens, and he is half hispanic, he speaks english, and he is happy to have the job.
I think he is saving up money to buy a car when he turns 16.
This was the way it was when I was a kid, why would I hire an illegal alien to mow my lawn and deny my neighbors son the opportunity to learn how to earn his own money?

What is so wrong with anyone hiring citizens these days?
From the way some of these pro-illegals on this board go on, it's a crime to deny a job to an illegal alien.
Political correctness run amok.
Lets cut the bull, and stop dancing around calling illegal aliens "undocumented migrants", good grief, what the heck has happened to everyone in this country?

Not only is it okay to hire citizens, it is GREAT!
Not only are illegal aliens bad for this nation, they are TERRIBLE!

Also, hiring, harboring, recruiting or sheltering illegal aliens is a Federal Felony.
When Bush goes there's going to be a big crackdown.

If he was paid through a company in the Philippines rather than through California, he cannot claim any unemployment in California. It doesn't matter where the company is based, it's where he is working. He needs to speak to the Philippine government about receiving unemployment compensation if he was being paid and paying taxes in the Philippines

No -- I also am willing to hire someone who is a legal resident alien. They follow the laws, and are a legal resident -- so I see no reason to reject them based solely on that.

I am going to be honest with you, here. Once upon a time, I had a mother's helper. I had an older anglo lady who made me crazy, so, I got rid of her (after 6-7 months), and, hired another lady. I don't know her status. We spoke Spanish together (I wanted her to help my kids be bilingual- and she was asked to only speak spanish to them) I didn't ask for proof of residency. It never really "occurred" to me before coming to this site..... I paid both ladies the same- $10 an hour. I had to let her go after only a couple months because of economic reasons.

I do not employ anybody, do you also check for Id's at at your grocery store, gas station and every restaurant you eat in? How about motels, do you ask for the ID of EVERY employee they have from every shift. Before you walk into a business do you ask to see the documentation of every employee including the janitorial staff. And do you ask every business where you spend your money at to round up all of their landscaping staff and check IDs? Whew.. you must be busy.
