There are several banks that accept la matricula... There are also home loan programs (Wells Fargo) for undocumented. Here is a link with a "flag" system to know if your bank is one that does - or does not- support the undocumented....

I have one thought, though. If I can invest my $ in an off-shore account with my SS#, and, banks are in it to make money, why would they not accept it? This list has WAY MORE big banks that DO accept it than doesn't....

I say we line up our loyalties. I can transfer my money from Schwabe investments, and, tell them it is because they don't offer equal opportunities... But, doesn't that seem like a lot of energy for little return?

Whatever. Here is the link:

I could care less what a bank does as long as they manage my money well. It really is not my business how they treat other customers and I could care less.

If undocumented individuals pay their loans and meet their financial commitments, they are behaving a lot better than a lot of Americans who are buying things they cannot afford and defaulting on their loans. Can we deport those who default on their loans and accept immigrants who will honor their financial commitments?

A consular card is a legitimate form of id. It is as legitimate as a national identity card and issued by a government.

There is no good reason for a bank to not accept it. It tells them who you are and and your nationality and your DOB and address when you got the card.

And it is easy to check so there is really no excuse. Any bank that does Not accept is playing politics and prejudise and that is not what it is supposed to do. Simple as that.

So, is the FDIC a government agency? Because it would seem to me like if it was they would be encouraging and supporting criminal behavior. My bank sucks, I want to change it anyway but I'm gonna do that pretty soon. Maybe check out Schwabe.
I'm curious to know how many undocumented trespassers have contributed to the subprime follies?
Maria posts a statement not an answer, that was ludicrous if anything ever was. Funny too.

I want a bank that keeps the money here and invests in the local community. That tends to let out all of those that accept the matricula consular, as it happens.
