Christians, suppose you're sitting at home reading the bible and the voice of God says, in your head, that you must kill your first born child in order to prove your faith.

Now, suppose you heard on the news that a man killed his wife and children because "God told him to." Do you believe it?

Now, let's take it a step further. Let's say that your neighbor hears from God, and God tells your neighbor to kill you and your family in order to prove his faith. When your neighbor bursts through your door with a shotgun telling you he's sorry, but the Lord has spoken and you all must die, do you go willingly, or do you try to get away? Do you just accept that your neighbor says that God said you must die, or do you need proof?

I'm not saying that your neighbor is going to kill you, I'm asking how do you determine whether or not something that is said about God is true? Do you just believe it all, or do you need proof?

The Rock, I guess you actually understood the question and had no answer, so you resorted to avoidance, name calling, and diversion.

I don't have a reason to believe in your god or any of the stories about it. But I have every reason in the world to believe that people that hear the voice of God in their heads that then kill their family members probably should have gotten a second opinion before going through with the command.

Just so you have it straight, I'm not fighting a god, I'm questioning a belief about a god. Why don't you ask your god to clarify that for you, if it really is omniscient and benevolent it will help you understand that.

Ummm ... that was Satan posing as God. And if they'd only had stronger faith, they could have known the difference, because God never commands his followers to kill ANYONE, let alone children and family members.

Oh wait, except for that one time with Abraham and Isaac, but that's it ... oh, and there was that slaying the firstborn of Egypt incident, but ....

You are wasting your time. If this was your only question and had any evidence of sincerity it might be worth answering. You have a platform of the atheist gathering strength to prove God wrong. You have a strategy in your questions and a mocking that falls on deaf ears. You have no idea who God is. You stop at nothing to malign and the best you can come up with is accusation! Sounds like you want to lead something and you are rallying your troops. Look in the mirror - your vendetta is showing!!!!! I would have thought that the answer to your question was obvious. They are not hearing the voice of God. It is also obvious that you dont know my God. I say again, your platform of accusation and your obvious lack of logic in your questioning highlights your vendetta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the 1st thing is that if you think God has spoken to you, you must realize that He will never say anything that contradicts w/ His Word (the Bible).
for example, He would never tell you to kill someone b/c that goes against one of His 10 commandments.

The answer is below. Christ is our shepherd and we know his voice. A good clue though is if it is sinful or wrong it is not God.

John 10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
Joh 10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

You can test it against His Word. The scenario you present obviously contradicts the New Testament.

God is the God of love, not of hate.

No I wouldn't believe it because God wouldn't tell you that. It doesn't go with scripture.

Nothing mentioned above lines up with His Word. If it doesn't match what He has written about this dispensation, then it's heresy.
