it sounds like a migraine. Many people suffering from migraines see light or an aura. And nausea often comes with migraines. I get vertigo attacks with migraine and nausea sometimes. Horrible. This is nothing too weird.
If you have slurred speech or mental confusion, that's more serious and get to an ER.mi
But you are doing the right thing, you are going to the doc.

This sure sounds like a migraine. I usually lose my vision for a few seconds then experience the blurriness. I often get nauseated right away and need to lie down. Once you are diagnosed, with proper medication, this may be controlled. I had to use 2-3 different meds before the 'right' one worked. Once I take my medication, I try to lay down if able to in complete darkness and silence.
If up to 2 pills don't work its off to the ER or urgent care for an injection. I've had migraines for 15 yrs and only have needed 2 injections.
Good Luck at your Drs appt.

Migraine Auras
Before the onset of headache pain, 10% to 20% of migraine sufferers experience a 10-to-20-minute aura. An aura is thought to result from the narrowing (constriction) of blood vessels in the brain. The location of the diminished blood supply determines the specific aura symptoms experienced.
An aura is usually, but not always, visual. Examples of visual aura symptoms include the following:
silver streaks
white lights
light objects appearing excessively bright
all objects appearing gray or yellow
distortion of all linear objects
dancing and moving cobwebs
moving black veils
scintillating picket fences
silver stars
heat waves
flashing gold lights
Fourth of July sparklers
zigzag streaks of light
herringbone patterns
double vision
blind spots
Auras may also be experienced as numbness and tingling in the face, arms, or legs. Some migraine sufferers experience weakness, slurred speech, or even brief paralysis.

I'm not a Doctor, but by what you are saying and comparing to the symptoms I also experience on my migraines, it really sounds like one. When you have a migraine you will want to be in a dark room because you can't possibly tolerate light. Also very sound sensitive. Any little sound will be amplified during a migraine episode. Nausea and vomit are very common as well. I imagine you should probably counting the days until your dr's appointment. Hope everything will go right and you get better of your migraine!

It very well could be a migrane. But your doctor will be able to tell you for sure. I've had migranes for years and the halo or the "thingie or shimmering lights" is usually my first sign that one is on it's way.
Anything could be giving you a migrane. Stress, food allergy, needing glasses or being hungry.
Keep any changes that you've made recently in mind when speaking to your doctor. The doctor may also send you to a neurologist just to be on the safe side.
This sight gives you more detail.

I hope all is well.

it sounds a lot like how my migraines are.
I get the feeling like I looked at the sun only the bright spot doesn't go away. The spot spreads until I cannot see anything but at the periphery and then it clears. Pretty soon after that I get an awful headache and sometimes I get nausiated also.
I went to the Dr and he gave me a prescription to help keep the headache from getting so bad.
Good luck!

It sounds as though it could be a migraine. I've never seen such a clearly defined shape, but things have been a bit blurrier or lighter for me right before a migraine, and nausea is another symptom. It might also be something as simple as a "floater"; you should really see a Dr. to check.

It does sound like migraine. Try to be in a quiet and dark room. When I get migraines, I usually take Excedrin for Migraine and it works wonders.
