My guess is, the reason you felt terrible after the race could be two reasons. One, you are not eating and drinking enough. When this happens, the body needs energy, and without food in your system it takes it from your muscles, or you might not be hydrated enough. I usually black out for a second and feel dizzy if I'm dehydrated after a run. Two, you are eating too much too close to a race. I would suggest a bagel about 2 hours before your race. This spring, when I was in 8th grade, I did track and I had scrambled eggs and bacon about 2 and a half hours before I ran the mile. I ran the mile in 4:43 which was my fastest time all year. But as soon as I got off the track, I started puking for the next hour and I didn't have time to warmup for the 400m. Another reason might be that you ran really hard and it's kinda expected for you to feel terrible. You've never pushed your body to that limit before.

You're just normal Chesney. You're tired because of the emotion and doing more work than you're used to. Eat right and drink water, maybe a little G-ade but not much. You stressed your body hard and now it's tired. 'nuff said...

so you ran much harder than you as used to running. Be sure you cool down and stretch after running.
What have you eaten? You need to eat and if you have had enough to drink be careful you can actually drink too much.

Take a cool shower, and relax, you will be fine tomorrow.
