I believe that this statement is saying that for the unexplained phenomenons, and the things that occur in our lives that we do not want to face, there is an answer in religion somewhere that explains it. For example: there are many scientific reasons but not prooven fully of how humans are on Earth, but there are religious stories (I'm not claiming what is true or not) about Adam and Eve, and other ways that Humans were "created". Something to prove this statement is the fact that Catholic, Jewish, Buddist, etc all have different beliefs in what happens to our "sprits or souls" after death. The fact that we realistically can not know what happens to the human emotional side (not physical body) of us when we die, helps some people look to their religion to believe what they want to believe about what happens. How can a person explain a man who heals others: religion, How could a person explain white light balls in haunted houses: religion. Now don't get me wrong, there are also some scientific possibilities, but most people want to believe what their religious base tells them. Hope this helps

Why do humans feel the need to explain things? Why can't things just be and people just live...what is it that gives us our propensity to seek knowledge and to discover the intricacies of our existance when, in your estimation we, being unable to discover or "explain" these details then perpetuates in our minds a cause or force beyond ourselves that magically answers all the questions...only no religion on the planet claims this. First we ask the question of the subject and it answers itself. There really is no need to have a "god" or "gods" in order to give reason to the functionality of any given fact or thing in existance. We don't "need" religion...and we sure as heck don't need it to "explain" anything...people practice religion because it defines who we are as a compulsion...the created seeking the creator. However, most of the time we define our religion...it is only the Judeo Christian faiths that our God defines us....being created in His image and all....love in Christ, ~J~

God was created by the ignorant in substitute for an explanation or reason for something they can't explain...
For example back in the old days Diseases and Unexplained Deaths were said to be the work of God to punish sinners. Now we know they're caused by Bacteria and Viruses...

A statement by someone with a made-up (frozen) mind and a stunted imagination. Someone who cannot accept that others can think outside the box within which he holds all his thoughts.

Humans need God(not religion)for love, guidance, peace. And it is good to know that "this" is not all there is.

The statement means: "If I can't understand something, but I want an answer anyway, I must invent one that I like." That's what imagination is for.

Religion is man's attempt to reach God.
God's attempt to reach man, is by sending His Son Jesus Christ, to pay our debt of sin and restore us to a proper relationship to God the Father.
A better statement would be, "Unbelieving humans need evolution to "try" to explain things they cannot understand.
