Given that the non-religious viewpoint is actually growing and that about half of those who aren't religious are atheists I'd say more people are leaving Christianity for atheism than the other way around.

Practically no one who understands the arguments for atheism becomes religious later on anyway (and the most notable examples either didn't understand the arguments against religion or became senile).

Who knows. True Christians never "convert" away from their faith. Those who are well grounded in Christ are solid in their walk. Christians in name only or without a foundation will experience frustration and be more likely to fall away. I think you can tell by some of the posts here in this forum that atheists are cynical of everything. Hopeless, empty and bitter for the most part.

Hey. I call it like I see it.

Col. 1: (notice the word IF in v23)
21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard...

How are you defining conversion to Christianity?

Is being born into a Christian family a conversion? Is going from non-practicing to practicing a conversion?

I would imagine that more people convert to Christianity, if for no other reason than Christians are so much more outspoken about spreading their beliefs. After all, the more lost souls you convert ... the greater your rewards in Heaven. Supposedly.

people convert to atheism much more often. You are raised to believe in god just as you are taught to believe in santa clause. As you get older you grow-up. The most intelligent of our species stop believing in God, while others remain living in a childhood fairy tale. Some even continue to believe in both God and santa as adults. I'm part of the 10% who were smart enough to see beyond the fairy tale.

We really don't have the sufficient data to answer your question.

As an atheist, I'm into the objective truth so without sufficient data on the subject, I cannot give you an objective answer.

What occurs more is the de-Christianization of Christians. For example among other situtations, there are more or less 200,000 christian denominations worldwide and each church is divided from the others. Without their spirit of UNITY OF THE FAITH, they are de-christianized. It is because THE LORD JESUS CHRIST is unfathomable love and the bonds of THE UNITY OF THE FAITH are love and peace. But with the spirit of the unity of the faith, a christian can say in his/her heart while he/she stays in his/her admin Chruch, You Catholics, Anglican, Protestant, Mormons, Church of Christ, Greek Orthodox, etc are my brothers and sisters in Christ. THANK GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD.

The latter.

Eventually, people start to realize what a crockofshitzu christianity really is.

I'm one of them. Before the age of 19, I would have DIED for my 'faith' (aka ignorance). Now I choose LIFE.... I choose freedom.... I choose to use my brain!
