Some people claimed to seeing "dead people" like "strangers," "relatives," "friends," or even "family members." However, what they do not know is that these are familiar spirits (i.e., demons) that mimic "dead people." I do not deny the fact that some people can see spirits because even angels themselves are spirits which you cannot see and yet Elijah and eventually his servant saw the Lord's vast army encamping around to protect them.
And Elisha prayed, "O LORD , open his eyes so he may see." Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (2Ki 6:17, NIV)
These are some criterias you need to consider to validate your "spiritual gift/s:"
1. Can you find that kind of practice from the Scripture?
2. Does is lead other people to the saving knowledge Christ?
3. Does is encourage other people to grow in their relationship with Christ?
4. Does it give you fear, worry, or peace?
5. Does it glorify God whenever you practice it?
I know, some people will say, "Well, I am helping some people with this 'gift.' Isn't that enough?" No, it isn't because all valid spiritual gifts from above are meant to glorify Christ and build the Christian church.
"So it is with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church." (1Co 14:12)
If that gift does not exalt Christ and build up the church then that comes from the enemy of our souls. That kind of practice is meant to deceived people thinking that the spirit of men can still be seen "hovering" in our world. But in reality, human being's spirit when they die do not stay in our world but are immediately judged by God Himself whether they will received a reward as a faithful believer (1Cor.3:12-14) or go to eternal damnation prepared for Satan his demons (Rev.20:10).

Yes, I guess I'm one of the "Freaks" that sees dead people. I see my spirit guide out of the side of my eye I know him by the colors he wears. When I look to see him there is no one there not even the colors of his clothes.
I smell my Grammy once in a while and she's been gone for 20 years and I've moved several times.
I think it's to tell us that it's gonna be ok. Also that there is life after death because they are always happy. (not to say that there are not sad or evil spirits but that's a different question).
JACK if you are such a non-believer could you please get the hell out of the spirituality board!

Seeing dead people is not a good thing, at all. Looking for a message from dead people is worse.
I think you are going through a phase in life.
Turn your attentions elsewhere. Don't go looking for trouble, for spirits.
Talk to your parents or someone or mature individual should this persist.

I am not clairvoyant, so I do not "see" dead people (except for the pictures I have of dead relatives)
I have often felt their presence around me, giving me comfort and support.
If you watch the movie "The 13th Warrior" there is a speech the Vikings use reflecting the sense of being part of an ancestral chain......

No. The dead can't function without a body. Our souls are in a sleep after we die, waiting for the 2nd coming of Christ. When people say they see ghosts, they're actually seeing demons, who portray themselves as people who died.

I've seen spirits before yes. My great grandmother was the first. She just told me everything would be okay.
Since then I've seen many. One reason why I became a paranormal investigator. I'm not sure what the purpose was for all the other ones though that i've seen.
