Bulls do not like or dislike the Red Color !
As a matter of fact Bulls cannot see the color Red, because all Bulls are color blind :o) verify it from any Vet Doctor. Its just the movement of the cloth which irritates them makes them charge the object.

Take Care and God Bless you

People should really look these things up. Bulls are NOT color blind. Bulls have dichromatic vision which means they seen in a two color scale rather than a three color scale as humans do. Red and Blue and Green are all about the same intensity to a bull and have no different response when waved in front of them. They get hit. Bulls are big aggressive animals with a VERY territorial viewpoint. If you are in a bulls space and they can see you move or you look like another animal of significant size to care about then the bull will try to run you off (or over).
One girl suggested talking to them, yeah, try that.... say things like "ouch, oh god, help me." It could work. Where moving object are concerned bulls really seem to concern themselves with size and whether is seams alive. They don't charge trees blowing in the wind or chip monks. But they might charge a sheet in the breeze regardless of color. They also hit stationary objects that look alive (the mannequin on Mythbusters).
Red has no effect..... it just looks good to the spectators.

Actually if I recall correctly the picadors are on foot, the toreadors are on horseback and the bullfight finishes with the matador.

I have actually been to bullfights in Canada. Here they place a Velcro pad on the bulls back and use a paper tube with streamers inside to designate a hit rather than using spears.

Less gore and quite entertaining. Especially when you get a bull on steroids *lol* (just recalling the last one I was at where the last bull of the day won all three rounds, even as bulls go he was a monster)

And bulls, like dogs, are colour blind ... it is just the proximity of the matador and the motion of the cape. They also have poor peripheral vision. So you pretty much have to wave something in front of their noses to get a bull's attention.

Sorry but I really object to bullfighting and antagonizing bulls in any way. If your intention is not to taunt a bull who needs to know why bulls supposedly like the colour red?

Bulls are just fine in fields if you leave them alone. They are colour blind, I believe. Avoid the fields that bulls are in, but if you have to cross a field, just don't get between the bull and the cows otherwise ignore it, it should not cause you any problems.

If it takes some notice of you, pretend it is your pet dog and talk to it as the farmer would. Usually they just ignore you then. If not, serves you right, run like hell. Read the warning sign you previously ignored then jump back over the fence that you shouldn't have climbed over in the first place!

Bovine creatures have very poor eyesight and see mostly in black-n-white and shades of gray. The bull is not seeing a red cape and getting irate. Long before the toreador came out in his fancy sequined outfit and red cape there have been picadores, mounted on horseback with lances and spears, who have been jabbing on the bull and really ticking it off.

by the time the toreador gets in the ring, the bull is tired from being run down by horses, in lots of pains from the pikes driven into it (you can usually see them still in the bull in pictures) and is ready to charge anything at all. The red is for the audience; the bull is attracted to the motion.

They actually don't have a preference to the color red. It's movement that attract the bull's attention, not the color red. Bulls are actually color-blind. Wha makes it attack is the movement of the cape.

Cited from ask yahoo!
"Bulls are indeed colorblind. To a bull's eye, a red cape is a gray cape. The red cape, which inspired the phrase "seeing red," is purely a theatrical tradition.
However, to a bull bred exclusively for aggressiveness, that flapping cape can prove very irritating."

Actually Bulls don't see color the way we do. they are colour blind and see in varying shades of black and white. So it is not the colour that is causing their reactions its the vigorous movements of the person and or the object the person is moving. Some bulls though are bred for their aggressive tendencies too so their reactions to the vigorous movements are more pronounced. Mythbusters proved this as well as other science based programs such as those on the travel channel, the history channel and public broadcasting channels.

That is a myth. Bulls are colorblind and only charge the cape because of the waving motion. Well alteast I think they are colorblind. Many people seem to think dogs are colorblind but they really aren't. They just can't make out as many colors as we can. So, umm... yeah I donno really, but I do know that the color red has nothing to do with it. Weather they can see it or not is anyones guess. Go to google and do some research if you want a reliable answer.

bulls dont have any problem with red at all. They get angry on the movement of the flag that the people are shaking to make it angry. Mythbusters did it and they did a red, blue, and white flag and the bulls went after every one cuz they were moving.
