I like to poke a small hole in the tomato with a fingernail or tooth to get it started, then suck out the juicy part, chew some of the flesh, suck more juice. The trick is to maintain the rhythm so the juice doesn't drip out....but I have to tell you, in the summer, a tomato right off the vine? Who cares if it dribbles. There's nothing like it. Just chomp it like an apple and go take a shower after. Or run through the sprinkler.

Not all the fruits can be eaten without the aid of cutlery. Take for example, an avocado or a pineapple.

Try Cherry Tomatoes, they can be eaten as grapes!!!

Probably this is as close as you will get, using your interpretation of "as a piece of fruit".

The only way I know is with a lot of paper towels. But I love them juicy red tomatoes when they're in season, like right now. Maybe you should just buy V-8 or tomato juice if you're all worried about the mess they make.

Strip off your clothes, and climb into the shower, with a mater in one hand, and a salt shaker in the other, I suppose.

Most of the time, though, I'm wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt, and I'm in the back yard. Who cares if I make a mess? Everything (including me) is drip dry, and it's nice to have an excuse to be hosed down with cold water on a hot sunny day.

Small bites and maintain suction with the lips sealed around the bite area when you sink your teeth in.

Go with the smaller cherry tomoatos...same flavor - no mess. You can put the whole thing in your mouth at once.
