I just moved to a new house. I have three cats. Two of them are affraid of me (not my wife). Neither one of them will let us pick them up. When I packed the first one I had to tackle him and stuff him into a carrier. I got bit and cratched so bad that I needed IV antibiotics. I can't blame him, he was just scarred. The problem is that I can not get the other cat down from her hidding spot (in the floor joices of the celing above the basement). I do not own the house anymore but the new owner has been understanding. I have left a have a heart trap out with tuna in it. There is no other food supply. It has been over 24 hrs and I have not captured her. Is there any other way to get her. My wife is worried and I think we have inconvienenced the new owner enough. The cat was adopted through the animal shelter with the other scarred one. They must have had some trauma in their life to be so freightened. Will animal control be able to get the cat?

I think all animal control would do is set out a trap, which you have already done.
I think it's just going to take time for her to get hungry and come after the food.
You might ask your Vet about kitty Prozac, might help the cats relax enough that you can interact with them and help them get over what ever has made them so afraid of people.

Most people would have given up on cats so anti social, kudos to you for trying so hard.

Are you having them proportion the equal clutter field? You will have to have a field only for the primary kitty and one for the brand new two to proportion, if they're peers. Some individuals say you want one field in step with cat. Anyway that's the very first thing i could take a look at. If that's now not serving to, you would take a look at isolating them for awhile, if now not at all times, which could now not be possible, close them in specific components of the apartment for the night time. Make definite first cat is in his possess "territory" or favourite location to hang around/sleep and his field is in his average location and that the others do not move there, and close them in a further room with their possess field at night time. As the interlopers, they will have to accept anything house you'll be able to provide them that does not intervene an excessive amount of with the primary cat's house. These obstacles can difference as they get used to one another, however the first cat demands to consider revered, so do what you'll be able to to allow him understand he is not going to must quit the entire apartment to the brand new ones.

If the new owner of the house is willing
put a bowl of water & food out for him.
Also a litter box. At night he will likely come
out of hiding & eat. Call the local humane
society for free help. The humane society
has expierence with this type of situation.

There is a cat treat that makes the cats crazy- I only use it when I need them to come to me- Temptations cat treats -any flavor- if you can- stick a couple of those tiny treats where she can reach 'em. Once she's had a couple, she'll want more. Just shake the bag and she'll come for more. When you try to put her in her carrier, set the carrier so that it's upright and try putting her in feet first.. you'll still have a struggle but its much easier this way- try those treats.
Good luck.

If you can get another day or two from the new owner, use Kentucky Fried Chicken as bait (take off the coating and the bones) and I think she'll come down to get that. It's worked much better than tuna, dry food or any type of fish for me.

Why would you traumatise it even more with animal control. Your wife needs to go into the basement by herself it may take a few hours, but if she has good food like chicken or turkey maybe hamurger, she can get it out. Cat's are very smart animals, in that they make you give them a reason to trust you. It takes time, but that's just how they are. Please don't call animal control.
