Your question isn't clear. Who does the weed and booze? The dad or the kid?

From the way your question is worded, it is impossible to tell if it's the father or the son who is doing the drinking and smoking. In any case, I think father and son need to sit down and get wasted together. It may be the only thing the two have in common. If they can't do this, then there is no hope, and the boy needs to get out on his own, get a job and his own home, as soon as possible.

I would think his mother made the right choice. But keeping the kid from his father will make him more curious. I would say supervised visitation at the child's request, and if i were his mother I'd be dragging him to do volunteer work at the homeless shelter so he can see what happens to people who use drugs to escape reality.

If it's the dad with the drug/alcohol problem, it's best that the son not be in the home with him.

If it's the son with the problem, he should get the help he needs to get off drugs. That's a dead end regardless of who he is living with.

I think that is a little tough. When you live w/ your parents they have rules like it or not you have to follow them.
Have you talked to him and said sorry?
Is the drinking an everyday thing? do you have to smoke weed??
If not tell him your over it and wont do it again.

LOL... I think the boy needs to go back to school and learn proper grammar; it's 'smoked weed' - you don't DO weed, and 'drank' - not drinked!
