you can get hotdogs that are healthier than other hotdogs. Make sure they are "all meat. or even better, "all beef". There are lots of lowfat hotdogs on the market now. I personally only buy Hebrew National, which uses no fillers and only the best cuts of beef- they "answer to a higher authority"! All in all, hotdogs are fairly high in fat, but if you're careful about what kind you buy, you'll be better off.

It shouldn't be harmful it eaten periodically. Good for you? I'm not exactly sure how to answer that. It's not like it's an apple or oatmeal......but it's no poison either.
