I am 56 years of age and for a long time now i would like a tatoo or tattoos yes i know some will say going through a midlife crisis but i think we would all have to admit we all do wether it be male or female
Seeking opions that will be noted and thought about i am looking for good answers and not rubbish as this is very important to me

Hi ... i got my fist a few months ago the second a month after that... age 43 .. If you want it go ahead,,, my wife and my self have the same both upper arms.. They can be hidden for work or on show when we go out. Ye we have had the stares the tuts the comments.. but we have also had the possitives.. the oh how neat how cool how sweet .. wow they look good!
My advice is this..... get what you want dont get somthing off the flash wall.. Also... you are getting a tattoo.. large or small people will either love it or hate it. Go with the largest you can.. The bigger tattoos show the detail better and dont look like.. ( as the artist that did ours said) squashed bugs from a distance LOL ...
Good luck and... one more thing... be very careful... tattoos are addictive...

Well, I'm 59. I got my 1st Tattoo at 16, then waited 30 years & got some more.
My 1st one was a winged skull, my brother rode with the Angels back in the day.At 46, I got a pentacle on my left shoulder. then at 48, an Egyptian Cat on my calf, a few months later a crescent moon with 13 stars.
I waited 2 years, then I added the property symbol for Coven MC. In the middle of my back, is an added zipper tattoo where the handlebars of my husband's Harley went through my back in a wreck.
And now that we've moved to Texas, I want to add another one.

Get the tattoo! I got my first one at 39. I just got one last year at 48. I got my nose pierced at 39 and a tummy piercing 7 months ago. I don't know if you could call it a midlife crisis. I 'm just a lot braver than I was at 20 or 30. I'm not trying to be a youngen. I love being my age, except for perimenopause! I love, love, love, being a gramma! I love my kids, but love that they are all out of the nest! I'm not doing affairs or going bungy jumping. I just love body adornment. Oh, and still gets the eyeroll of disapproval from my parents! Now that's just another perk!!!!!!!!

I think that you answered your own question when you said that you are probably going through a mid life crisis. Yes, I think that we all go through them but I wonder if there is anything a bit less permanent that you could do to express yourself during this phase ( yes, it is a phase and as such it will pass.) I sold my house and went on the road for a year in a motorhome, lol. The other thing is I wonder what these tatoos are going to look like as you age. I work in an Assisted Living place and I really think about our younger generation with all of their tatoos and wonder just what they are going to look like in their "golden years." At 56 you still have several years before you begin to "really" sag and droop so just think about all of this before you have "mom" tatooed on your rump, lol. Good luck and have fun. If you really want the tat then go for it. After all it is your body.

Well, you have one thing going for you. Youngsters who get tattooed early in life can only wonder what their tattoos will look like in future years when their skin starts to sag and wrinkle. At least your tattoo artist can work around that.
If you want a tattoo, get one. You are certainly old enough to make up your own mind on that. Whether your family will think you have sprung a gasket in your brainbox is another question altogether. But if you want it, go for it. Just be sure you go to someone reputable so you don't wind up with an infection or a bad reaction.

Tattoos are great for any age group that wants them, I've been getting new work done most all my adult life, and have no problem with any of it. Of course, I'm in the buisness, so it goes with the territory. I can't see what it would have to do with a crisis, seems to me you just want a tattoo. Enjoy!

I got my first at 38. Go for it. You have a better idea of what you want and are in a better place in your life.
I'm not a believer that it has to have some deep meaning. Just make sure it is well thought out and original.
