in order to be a Chaplain, your denomination must approve you becoming one in the armed service. In other words, you need permission form your superior. Then you must meet all the regular requirements Physical and mental.

They take all kinds, but Catholics and the mainline Protestant denominations are far more represented than the other Protestant churches. The educational requirements, having a bachelor's degree plus a graduate degree in theology or divinity rule out a lot of ministers from other churches.

im sure they do, but youd have to look at the regs. if there are soldiers to follow the religion, the army will provide chaplains for it. but to become a chaplain youve go a lot more work to do besides be ordained, youve go to get through the training and have a degree also (to be commisioned, since chaplains are officers).

The military recognizes quite a few denominations. even wiccan. i'm sure if you meet the educational and other requirements and your denomination is on the list, you'll be fine. Check with a recruiter.

Rarely -- but it can happen.

If you are ordained, and enlist, you can ask your enlistment officer about your particular situation. It will probably depend on what unit you get assigned to, and in what part of the country.

The military is quite open to the "hard of thinking", so religious people should feel right at home.
