I think 99% of people who believe in god and the bible have never read the book and have never spoken to the other.

I believe because the God of the Bible totally changed my life at a time when it was completely unexpected and in a way that I didn't even know was possible. He totally changed me from the inside out in an instant, in a moment of great despair when He spoke this simple word into my heart: "Maybe Jesus really did die for your sins"
With that one word faith came into my heart, a great burden of guilt and hopelessness was dispelled, and a sense of love, peace, acceptance and understanding flooded my heart, and for the first time in my life, everything finally made sense. It was a year later, when reading the Bible, that I realized what I experienced was there all the time. It can be found in the Third Chapter of John where Jesus is talking to a man named Nicodemus about something He called being "born again." That's what happened to me that day - I was born again, born of the Spirit. From that time on I knew the Bible was the Truth.

I believe in Jesus because the eyewitness testimony of his life, teachings, ministry and miracles recorded in the gospels is convincing to me. Pick up a Bible and read them for yourself and see if they are convincing to you.

I believe in the Bible because of the spiritual truth it contains...especially in the revolutionary and unmatched teachings of Jesus (love your enemies, do good to those who persecute you & love your neighbor as yourself). Jesus Himself confirms the truth in the rest of Scripture.
