if you REALLY love the guy, gifts doesn't matter if you received it or not... The important thing is you're both together on a special day... that's all...

Don't be too objective...

Because the real gift that you received is you boyfriend himself...

If you want to, do it because you want to. It shouldn't be a have-to.

However you can look at it this way - if you purchase or make him a gift, you will be showing that you're the better person.

If you do plan on marrying him, get on the ball right now and set out your expectations of holidays and birthdays. Generally speaking, men don't often "get" how holidays and little gifts are important. As I've told my own husband (and he's promptly forgotten) I don't NEED big gifts.. just little notes or tiny gifts that say "you're important and I remembered you on this important day..."

Well because you are probable more thoughtful. To make him feel like a cad for not getting you one. So you can have the upper hand in your next argument. Just think of the millage! And another thing, at least I spent my money - you can't buy ammunition like that. You can dine out on that for the next year!

Seriously, if you have to ask means that you are probable not the sort of person who can not buy a present. If you don't buy one will it effect you? IE will you have guilt over it, I don't think you should, but I would be the same. Think of you not him. He doesn't seem like he deserves you. If he is the sort that want buy a present but expects one, then make a deal with him. Say from now on we just wont buy any more presents for each other. Why should you spend your money on him when he don't? The saying you don't give to recieve is very fine but at the end of the day it actually says something about someone who thinks like that. They are proabable takers and not givers themself.

You shoudn't. Then he'll know what it feels like. Mine did the same thing 2 years in a row. So this year i'm not gonna give him anything but a Happy Birthday like he did for me. I can't wait for his reaction.

Because it's a day celebrating that he was born. Why don't you show what you think a great birthday is, maybe then he'll do it for you next year?

I've had to "teach" my hubby how birthdays are celebrated. He grew up in a family where birthdays weren't a big deal. In my family the birthday girl is practically Queen for a day.

Because love does not keep a record of wrong, nor does it seek vengeance on a loved one over something as petty as "he did not get me a gift".

when giving a gift you give because you want to not because some one gave you one. you might want a different boy friend since he isnt very giving or thoughtful.

Forget birthdays all it does is get you into trouble. Then he remembers he forgot you. Ups! silent moment!
Just don't put so much pressure on guys.
Forget birthdays and find one date that he can remember.
Like get married on valentines or something.

I think a better question is...why are you still with him? He obviously doesn't give a crap about you or he would have given you something on your birthday. Don't be stupid.
