Did he take up the cross for me, or do I take up my cross for him? Did he lose his life for me or do I lose my life for his sake? (from Matthew 16:24-25)

Weren't both of these verses turned upside-down in the Pauline Gospel? Reverence: http://gospelenigma.com

Yes, Jesus said to take up our cross follow Him ... that means throwing off the old sinful self, and putting on the new Christ-like self.

Jesus also said ... Anyone who loses his life for My sake, shall gain it in full ... meaning they will inheret His riches in Glory.

Does a question validate any answer you put there? Can you extract truth from a question? Does the fact that I ask this question make this question a statement? The fact that it's an enigma merely means YOU don't understand it. It doesn't mean that it's not understood.

Did you read them within their own context?

Jesus died for our sins.

We are to die to ourselves (desires, wants, opinions, etc.).
