i have an overbite, it's not that bad though. when i smile you can see half of my bottom teeth, but if i have my top and bottom molars touch, my top teeth in the front cover my bottom teeth. do i need braces? my teeth are very straight compared to to the other teens in my class. but i think my teeth are a bit small. is there anything i can do to fix that?

Next time you go to the dentist as him or her what they think, and if they believe you need braces they will refer you to an orthodontist.

A description of your teeth on Y! Answers is not a very effective way to know whether or not you need braces.

Some people get braces because they will not be able to chew their food properly or they need more room in their mouth for the rest of their teeth to come in - or some MEDICAL reason. Other people get them for cosmetic reasons only.

Needing braces has a lot to do with whether or not you (or your parents) can afford them.

Most orthodontists will tell you that you need them - even if it's just cosmetic. It's the way they make their money!!

Our child has teeth that are functional - yet a little crooked here and there. She won't be getting braces. If she wants them later - for cosmetic reasons - she can get them. Her choice.

Also - if you are not in the U.S. - there is less chance that you will get them. People in the U.S. are obsessed with having straight, white teeth.

I think a bit of overbite is cute on some people, and small teeth also seem kind of positive. Who wants big teeth? lol Actually I think you should ask a dentist just to see what they say. As far as wondering about attraction, we'd have to see a real pic. lol
