OK. First, you want to let the oil cool down completely (to room temperature.) Take a bowl big enough to hold the oil. Line the bowl with five grocery bags. Pour the cool oil into the bags. Tie the bags up very well. Dispose in your trash can.

I usually put it in an old cooking oil container and toss it. I have heard it is good for evergreen trees if it is veggi oil. I have poured it around tree b4.

don't throw the original bottle away, once i have used the oil (depending on what you cook) you can let it cool funnel it back into the bottle and reuse (for same type food) or dispose bottle

I pour mine down the drain, running hot water. Unlike bacon grease, which gets poured into a paper towel lined cup and thrown out when it sets.

Good luck!

EDIT: Yikes! You're talking about deep fryers. I meant for 1/2 cup or so. I only saute, so it's not ever a huge amount. Sorry.

Unless you have a lot, just reuse it in foods that can absorb any taste the oil has.

I usually freeze it in a can and throw the can away, when full, on trash day.

Take it to a place that makes biodiesel - they'd be delighted to take it off your hands! :-)
