What is the purpose of life if it has any?

We are here to move our planet and our species along the path of evolutionary development. We should each strive to leave the world a little better than it would have been without us. That is, be worth the investment in food, air, water, etc., that it took to keep you alive all that time.

Note that I do not make reference to any deity for this concept. It is strictly a humanist ethic, although anyone who believes in a deity should see the sense in it, as well.

I think Rush (the rock group, not the blowhard on talk radio) answered this appropriately in "Roll the Bones" . . .

Well, you can stake that claim --
Good work is the key to good fortune
Winners take that praise
Losers seldom take that blame
If they don't take that game
And sometimes the winner takes nothing
We draw our own designs
But fortune has to make that frame

We go out in the world and take our chances
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That's the way that lady luck dances
Roll the bones

Why are we here?
Because we're here
Roll the bones
Why does it happen?
Because it happens
Roll the bones

Faith is cold as ice --
Why are little ones born only to suffer
For the want of immunity
Or a bowl of rice?
Well, who would hold a price
On the heads of the innocent children
If there's some immortal power
To control the dice?

We come in to the world and take our chances
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That's the way that lady luck dances
Roll the bones

Jack, relax.
Get busy with the facts.
No zodiacs or almanacs,
No maniacs in polyester slacks.
Just the facts.
Gonna kick some gluteus max.
It's a paralax, you dig?
You move around
The small gets big. It's a rig
It's action -- reaction
Random interaction.
So who's afraid
Of little abstraction
Can't get no satisfaction
From the facts?
You'd better run, homeboy
A fact's a fact
From Nome to Rome, boy.

What's the deal? Spin the wheel.
If the dice are hot -- take a shot.
Play your cards. Show us what you got --
What you're holding.
If the cards are cold
Don't go folding.
Lady Luck is golden;
She favors the bold. That's cold
Stop throwing stones --
The night has a thousand saxaphones.
So get out there and rock,
And roll the bones.
Get busy!

That's an interesting question.

I haven't fully worked out the answer to it myself yet!

It's a very individual thing, you have to do some soul searching and figure out which answer - if any! - feels right for you.

This is where religion is a very powerful tool, there's no doubt that it gives meaning to life. It provides a way of interpreting things and helping people to accept difficult situations.

You might find what you are looking for in one of the many religions around today. Why not investigate some of them?

I wouldn't worry too much about the intracacies - just try to be a good, kind person and you won't go far wrong.

1. Nobody knows
2. No purpose in life whatsoever UNLESS you have cuddled a new baby, loved, have had a good laugh and a good bevvy with friends
3. Nobody cares, so don't waste your worry, you do not remember anything of your birth so you blood well sure as hell won't remember comitting suicide. See a doctor - get Prozac and you will come back to life again I mean that most sincerely. Good luck xx Oh, and you need a friend to talk to nowish and tell the truth.

"Why are we Here" :
In my opinion we are here because in the past, as a species , we have been very sucessful in reproducing ourselves.
Either way you look at it. From Noah or from neanderthal man to the present day , we have been very sucessful . Since now there are some 6 Billion of us.

"What is the purpose of live" :
See answer to previous question. The purpose of any lifeform is to ensure the successful continuation of the next generation.

After searching many paths to find the answer to that, and having believed in many things, I was called by Jesus to follow him and I have found the answer to be, I was created by God to have a relationship with him. He alone knows me and has a purpose for my life.

To be God's will manifested.

To listen to the still small voice within.

To forgive self, to forgive others (and this where its gets totally radical, not to forgive in a sense I know you did wrong but I am going to let that mistake ride, but forgiven because whatever the mistake was it never happened in reality, reality being our true home in heaven, it only happened on this world, which is in essence a very good illusion).

To see your 'brothers' as spirit as opposed to a body.

To give to others what you want, if you want more love, give to others love. If you want peace, give peace to others, the list is as endless as the stars.

Know whatever you do to somebody else you do it to yourself, and not because of karma, although that will play a part later on, but because everyone is a part of the whole, the whole being expressions of God, we were created in his likeness to create ourselves, born anew each moment, this is the true meaning of life, to extend love, because when everything but loving thoughts have been forgotten what remains is eternal. Heaven is basically a bundle of loving memories in a blissful state neither contained by time nor space. A place I got to get to, but there is a clause, you can't go alone, everybody has to go at the same time!

Look within, and then teach, and as you teach so shall you learn

Good question. I believe that the purpose of life is really to glorify God and give him pleasure and have a chance to fellowship with his creation. Right now, it includes working for truth, helping the helpless, loving the poor or downtrodden, loving and caring for anyone in need, doing God's work and enabling God to fulfill his plan for the universe.

we chose to be here, there is a material world and a spiritual world, material world is a reflection of the spiritual world so its the opposite of the spiritual world, spiritual world is eternal full of bliss and knowledge, here its the exact opposite, everything has a begginning and an end, we are all in ignorance and we are suffering the three fold misereies,

we started off in our original environment and then we wanted to enjoy seperate from God and try to imitate being God so we came here. This world is created by God to facilitate the souls that want to do this,

we are by nature eternal full of knowlwdge and full of bliss thats why by nature we don't want to die, we want to have knowledge and we are all pleasure seekers,

we go through repeated births and deaths here untill
we decide to go back to the spirtual world through re awakening our dormant relationship with God,
