Those are nice vehicles, lot of miles though.
I doubt if he is able to get over $1500 for it.
I had an older cherokee, it was a bit rough riding but that is why I loved it, it was a very good vehicle offroad and still reasonable on the highway.
It had well over 200,000 miles and still ran perfectly when my son hit some black ice and rolled it.
And . . . . . when the car rolled it sustained very little structural damage, and he was not hurt so I was very happy with that.

I have a 1994 that I bought with 37,000 miles and now has 225,000. I just bought a 2000 LArado with 87,000 for $8,800.
The jeeps have been know for brake rotor problems othe rthan that I love em. for a 97 i say go about 6,000 to 7,000 as long as you have it checked out.
Good luck

The major problem with the jeep it is made so poorly. Will cost more to keep it than to replace it.The cheorkee also handles poorly and is top heavy likes to crash eazy.
