As an adult, in my 20's. I was raised an atheist by atheist parents. Then Jesus showed me that the Bible is the absolute, unchangable Word of God.

I totally rejected it because I heard it talked, but never saw it walked and I was cynical and rebellious. I said to myself that if this is Christianity, I don't want ANY of it. There must be a God but He certainly isn't in a church building. I went my "merry way"; really miserable.
Later in adult life, I tried the New Age "God within" philosophy, the Native American idea that God was in everything, I tried Middle Eastern religions, I tried meditation to find my 'place of inner peace', I tried wiccan, I tried about anything anyone had had an experience with. I can tell you that NONE of them were filling that emptiness inside.
Finally, in relationship desperation and desire to "find" God, I just said, "IF THERE IS A GOD, if you are real, I don't care anymore WHO IS RIGHT or WHAT IS RIGHT..., I just want to KNOW..., ARE YOU REAL??
I turned on the tv and I have never watched Christian tv before and there were several programs on that were people telling testimonies about how Jesus Christ had changed their life. I was fascinated because they seemed so sincere and not like the people I grew up with. They obviously had some kind of supernatural intervention after some terrible living problems and so I "sneaked" and watched more Christian TV for several days.. between Christmas and New Year's Eve. I thought, "All these people from different parts of the world can't be crazy and the all have basically had the same experience when they prayed what they called, 'the sinner's prayer'". So I prayed it and no big deal. I prayed it several times in the next few days and then on New Year's Eve night, I prayed that prayer for REAL meaning it 100%. I realized that all these programs were just the right time for me and God was seeking and wooing ME, not the other way around! He LOVED ME AND WANTED ME TO BE RESCUED so He could change my life and BLESS ME!!
I had an experience I cannot explain in words that would adequately describe what I experienced. Also, I KNEW with every fiber inside me that the Bible was true and I was now different and truly BORN AGAIN.., all new!
I also quit my foul language immediately, I mean it just 'went'. No struggle or thought on my part. I quit smoking after over 30 years of it and thought I would never WANT to quit and I also KNEW I needed to have the baptism of the Holy Spirit even though I had always thought that was an untrue religious event!
I didn't plan this or contemplate it or ponder over it, it was just the thing I had avoided and shunned all my life and quite miraculously; it WAS JUST THE THING TO DO, for me. I would NEVER go back to before it was my desire to pray for Jesus to be my LORD. There is nothing to go back to!
This was 15 years ago..., and a lifetime wasted up until that point. Now I know I have a purpose, what it is and that I am never alone or unloved! I am free to LIVE.

Dear Link!
I did not "decide" to become a Christian!
I was an atheist and I was very tired, consuming drugs and very, very unhappy. I had had a scholarship and was doing my graduate studies in Biochemistry.
One day I decided to commit suicide. I had drunk a little, it was night and, on my way to the bathroom to cut my wrists I felt like calling up somebody I had met one year before.
I don´t know why his name came to my mind and how his telephone number was in my book.
He talked to me, invited me to go to his church.
I felt much better and I went.
After about two weeks I was with my pals by a swimming pol smoking a cigarette when all of a sudden I felt the urgent desire to go back to that Christian church.
I went there and told to some elders that were there:
- I want to be baptised!
So I was and when I was raised from the water I had this extraordinary experience: Jesus was raising me from the water!
Since then I am a Christian and since then I´ve been happy!
Things have not been easy but life became marvellous again.
God bless you!

I think the year was 1976, but I am not exactly sure of the exact date when I realized that Christianity was the truth and I decided that I wanted to be a Christian. Technically none of us "decide to be a Christian" but rather, we respond to God's call to faith or call to accept Jesus. Which is what I did.

first when I was five... then when I was older I quit being a Christian (I was still saved, but not a Christian). In my teen years I was on and off. Since I was 18 I've been learning more and more about how to be a Christian

Ten months ago, at the age of twenty-five. Prior to that, I had been a non-religious theist for five years, Wiccan for nearly six years, atheist/skeptic for almost eleven years. Yes, I became a skeptic when I was five, and a full atheist when I was thirteen. Until that, I just had lots of questions...that no one could answer, or so I thought.

When I was 13. Prior to that I had no Christian experience or walk. Since then I have continued to grow in my faith though I still have far to go.

You notice it's quite common for the lesser folk to claim that they were atheist or raised as an atheist but then became Christian? Do you think this is another technique these cretins use to further their religion?...I do.
