...then why do so many Christians believe they can tell you whether or not you're going to Hell, and what qualities determines your fate?

And, if you think it's because the Bible justifies this kind of action, why do you take it upon your shoulders to decide someone's eternal destiny anyway?

I'm going to have to agree with you because it is true God is the one that does decide are eternal fate. I know in the Bible that Paul was a killer of many Christians and later on Paul turned out to be one of Gods most faithful apostle. He was called the Apostle Paul.Paul wrote letters to the churches. There would have been many people in today's world proballly that would have said that man is nothing more then a killer and who knows they might have said he is no good to.But our Lord and the most high knew Paul's heart. I guess the Lord forgave Paul. God can do anything and nothing is impossible for him. He can turn the most hardened heart around and he can forgive and redeem who he pleases. As a Christian I am very careful to not set judgment upon someone because I want to be treated the way I treat others. I guess what I am saying I do understand what you are saying. You are always going to have people in our world who think they are holier then thou and that they are the most favorable under God's eyes. But when we study about Paul the great Apostle then we know that God is the only one that can redeem anyone and change anyone's heart. Since Paul was a killer of christians then God's devine intervention into Pauls life made him a new man and a man that God used to spread his word also. Without Gods intervention into Pauls life. I know that we would not be reading his good works in the Bible today. Right? God is the first and the last. The alpha and the Omega.God has the first say and the last say.God is the only one that can decide our fate. But we can help our fate by doing God's will.By doing the best we can. I guess. After all God knows each and every one of our very own struggles and circumstances. I hope this helps you out some. God Bless you to.

Quoted: "God is the one that decides our eternal fate, right?..."
No offense, but your question alone derives from a Christian point of view. As a practicing Witch, I recognize polarity in deity, meaning I recognize a God and Goddess. Unlike Christians, most Wiccans believe that the Higher Powers will not condemn our souls to a place called Hell simply because we are human. (We are not "born sinners".) We have choices in life and we are expected to make the best choices that harm none (as best we can). We also observe the tenent of reincarnation. We are here to learn a certain set of lessons in this life (even if it "This is how it feels to be born...conceived...whatever..) and when this incarnation is done, we may rest a bit or teach on the other side until we incarnate again (with a whole new set of lessons). This will repeat until we have learned all lessons and rejoin the God and Goddess. (Know that all Wiccans, Witches and Pagans do not hold the same thoughts or tenents. This is what my tradition believes.)
I realize this may not have answered your question very well; I simply wanted you to understand that there ARE other religions besides the dominant. All religions are a pathway to the same end: getting closer to deity. And no -- no human can determine where you will end up. Good luck on finding knowledge of your path, whatever it may be.
Brightest Blessings,

yes and no. God is the ultimate Judge and makes the final decision of where the soul will spend eternity BUT every individual has free will to choose and God will not force Himself on anyone. It is up to each person to make that decision as to how they want to live thier lives by receiving Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour or by rejecting God altogether. The choice is up to you !

And if anyone who says that they are a christian makes a determination about ones fate then they are in the wrong because God says " judge not lest ye be judged."

I believe I determine my eternal fate. I have the choice to live according to the way God would like for me to live or not. If I choose not, I have determined another fate for myself.

I don't know enough about other people to tell them how to live, but I believe that others owe me the same courtesy. I wouldn't strive to force my religion on others, and I do not want the religion of others foisted on me.

I do not want my life in jeopardy because others do not believe as I do and want to harm me because of my beliefs.

Are you trying to make sense using Faith or Reason?

If you choose Faith, you can't reason. Nothing makes sense with Faith.

You can only know the difference between real and unreal, true or false, just and unjust, moral and immoral if you use Reason.

Faith is a sentiment that comforts you. Fundamentally, it's a lie. People use it to comfort children, or someone in distress. They will say things like: "I know that this is for the better" "You will be rewarded in Heaven for your suffering here." "He died, but he is now in the arms of the Lord." "Pray with all your heart and you will get what you wish." Salespeople rely on credulity, too. They trust you have Faith in what they tell you: "This is a steal. Best car you'll ever find." "This is the deal of the century."

Faith breeds hypocrisy. Reason is your only tool for determining what decision is right or wrong, and Reason is the only way to discover what is true.

What a miserable lot of answers they've given you. They like to think that the LORD God doesn't exist and they put they heads firmly in the sand only coming up to complain. God will indeed decide what happens to all who deny Him and who complain at Him. They don't seem to realise how sinful they really are and don't want to learn better. They will undoubtedly earn the LORD God's displeasure for so doing for He gave His son so that we might all receive forgiveness for our sins if we are obedient.

Christians should point out to none Christians there need for a Savior including their need to repent of sins against God's commands, and what the consequence of rejecting God's gift of salvation will mean.

Christians can not judge if a certain sin in the life of another Christian will sent them to Hell or not, because they can not tell if the person has repented of that sin and is seeking God to deliver them from it. They may point out that they are committing a sin, and they should pray for that person, but only God knows their heart and mind.

I as a Christian can not tell someone they are going to Hell. Only God knows this. He sees not as man sees but he sees what is in the heart. God is the final judge.

God decides our eternal fate, you got that right. But He's got pretty much the whole outline of 'what kind of person goes where' in the Bible. But i am NOT justifying Christians who tell others their eternal destination. Our job is to pray for the unbelievers, not condemn them.

Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again. The Bible says this, and also says that if you believe it, you go to heaven for eternity, and if you reject it to your dying breath, you go to hell for eternity.

We are to be 100% sure that we are going to heaven (1 John 5). If we don't have that assurance, we must get saved by Jesus, and we will have it.

God speaks through the Bible, His Word, and tells you whether you're saved or not, so if you're not, you can get saved by Jesus.
