They will follow the path of least resistance. Right now illegal immigration laws are not enforced anyone can walk across the border at any time. There is effectively no resistance. The legal immigration path is backlogged for 10 years and filled with infuriating bureaucracy and red tape. it is nearly impossible. If we want to channel people through the legal paths, we have to reduce the resistance on the legal path and increase the resistance on the illegal path. Make it hard to cross the border increase the risk, increase the punishment. At the same time, streamline the legal system, cut down the wait time and make legal immigration easy and inviting. Nothing you do can completely eliminate illegal immigration. But making it sufficiently unappealing will keep all but the worst and most desperate from trying it.

In the book I`m reading-"Crossing the Wire", it`s about a young Mexican boy telling his story of trying to sneak into U.S. and what he has to go through. The Mexican police don`t like the Guatemalans on the buses or trains, but let the Mexicans go. They have a gang called Maras that rip off their money and throw them off trains because they are trying to control being on them trains that would go straight to Phoenix. Last I read on Internet was the train is stopped because of floods, and now there are tons of Guatemalans and others from South America all over Mexico. Who knows what is all going to happen. Even a nurse is among the group because of wanting what America has-so it`s not just the poor. LOL.!!!!

Yeah You are absolutely right.
Actually people here in Mexico don't ask that question seeming they didn't know, how's that possible, poor people, but we see many images on tv and no one says nothing.
Actually I think I'm living in a very closed society wich doesn't realize that it's closing its frontiers as USA does as well.
We say that this is the country where "nothing happens", does this explain to you the situation?

Two reasons.
1) They are afraid they will come to the US and steal the jobs the Mexicans are stealing already.
2) They are afraid that they will get here and let us know what I have been told by three Puerto Ricans, a Nicaraguan, two Ecuadorians, and a Cubano. They were all here legally, I was friends with them in AIT, Military training.
They told me that Mexicans are pretty much considered to be the low class among Hispanics. They claim to speak for the rest only because there are so many of them here and most of the rest don't even want to be associated with them.

because they are competing for work our country's resources. We citizens have to compete with all of them. They came here to make money ,and people who leave their own country and their own family will not you or anyone else stand in their way. They will be as mean as they have to ,to get what they want.

Careful there. Mexicans are generally generous and sympathetic to immigrants from Central America. BUT the police and the government are not. They're the bad guys.
