Yes, Bruxism is considered a cause of TMJ disorder. You should schedule an appointment with your dentist if this condition worsens or continues; he can fabricate an appliance or night guard that will reduce the damage to your teeth and offer some relief to the TMJ pain.

In the mean time you can use what we have for years. Take two damp towels and heat them in the microwave. You will want to place the towels on both jaw areas. As the heat starts to relax the muscles, begin to open and close your mouth stretching it wider each time you open. This method will help the joint area to relax and the pad to slip back into the correct position. You can use this technique anytime the jaw area is sore from grinding, popping or clicking; all of which are symptoms of TMJ. Good luck

Additional information: You may or may not hear a clicking but a head ache is another symptom. You can look it up at this web site. It will give you information of classic symptoms of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder.

I have TMJ. Grinding your teeth is a symptom. An excellent book on the subject is called Taking Control of TMJ. I just found out about this book and I have had the problem for many years. I suggest you get ahold of it (check your Library) and read up about it.
