try not to fret too much. breast cancer strikes me as being the most treatable cancer there is. plus there's a good chance she doesn't have it anyway! it could be fatty tissue, a cyst, or who knows what? its in God's hands...

First of all, after having breast cancer myself your mom would never blame you for carrying on your life. It's normal to feel that way, but take it from me your mom would hate it if you sat around doing nothing because you are to worried about her. The best thing you can do for your mom is to carry on with your life. That doesn't mean you won't be there to help her if she needs you, just let her know you love and her and with your support she will get though this.
Now, what you can do for her PRAY, I think that is the greatest thing a child could do for a parent. God will do the rest.

Don't feel guilty. You don't know anything yet. My mom had breast cancer and had both breasts removed. That was 10 yrs ago and she is doing fine. No matter what support her and love her. Give her strength and your ear at all times. Things could be fine. Make sure she has a good attitude.

You have to wait till you get biopsy result which will tell for sure if the lump is cancer. It may turn out to be benign and that will be a good news. Even if it is cancer, and if it is early stage, she may beat it by conservative breast surgery 9not mastectomy). You really cannot predict at this time. Don't give up and be by her side. She will need your support.

This is early. It could be a cyst also. Also, you don't know what stage of cancer it is if it is cancer. Breast cancer has many options in treatment. She most likely will have treatment if she has cancer and have many more years ahead of her. She may feel lousy as she goes through treatment (I did), but afterwards she will begin to feel normal. I am on my second bout. The first one was seven years ago.

I am genuinely sorry your mom and you are going through this. I do know a number of breast cancer survivors...so if the diagnosis is cancer, please know she can beat this! Please don't let your grief or anxiety keep you from showing her how much you care...she needs you now. You are in my prayers.
