Christians believe (which I believe is correct religion) God created man when God made Earth and Heaven. Humans were actually made from the ground. If you want to know more read Genesis (chapter 1 and 2 is what you're looking for) in the Bible (if you don't own a bible, there are some sites where you can read the Whole thing).

God created man. Originally we are eternal spirit soul, part and parcel of God. Due to our free will we choose to come to this material world and here mother nature provide us a material human body (by the order of God) to fulfill our material desires.
