He is too young. Wait until he is ready.

What do his parents say about this?

just let him walk about without a nappy on and when he wees, put him on the potty, expect mess and spills, this is all part of it. Never show your disappointed or angry ever. If he doesn't seem interested or isn't wanting to sit on the potty then he is not ready and leave it a month or so. There's no rush, 2 is young. Best advice make it fun with loads of praise even just for sitting on the potty and not actually doing anything.

Potty training is not difficult.

Each time the child eats or drinks something wait for twenty minutes then sit him on the potty. If after about two minutes he hasn't obliged, say nothing take him off. Sit him on the potty every 10minutes for 2minutes until he accidentally does something. This is where you have to lavishly praise him and tell him he's a clever boy to do a wee wee or a poo. Make a big fuss.

When he next is sat on the potty ask him to do a wee wee or poo and wait the 2minutes. If there is no result don't react. Repeat again every 10minutes and then make a fuss when it happens.

Patience and repetition is the key. Never show any anger or impatience or you'll be back to square one and the process has to start again.

Once the child understands what you want he'll want to please you particularly if you are rewarding him with praise and attention when he obliges.

Don't reward with food or treats. Love and praise is all the child needs.

Is the Child Ready for Potty Training?

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, toilet training depends on a child’s readiness, not his or her age and offers the following signs that your child is ready:
Your child stays dry at least 2 hours at a time during the day or is dry after naps.
Bowel movements become regular and predictable.
Facial expressions, posture, or words reveal that your child is about to urinate or have a bowel movement.
Your child can follow simple instructions.
Your child can walk to and from the bathroom and help undress.
Your child seems uncomfortable with soiled diapers and wants to be changed.
Your child asks to use the toilet or potty chair.
Your child asks to wear big girl/boy underwear.
According to the Children’s Hospital Guide to Your Child’s Health and Development, 40 percent of 3 year olds still use diapers. Potty training requires calm, time, attention, and readiness, not a magic point on the calendar.

We tried for three weeks until my husband finally broke down and bought a "Throne of Your Own" from Fisher Price. It's the most annoying thing on earth, but it plays a little fan fair when they do their business and there's a sticker chart for each time they go. My son loved it and he was potty trained in less than a week after that. :)

Best of Luck!

why are you trying to potty train him if hes parents arent doing it?? if hes at home and hes allowed to wet his nappy all the time and noone minds then goes to your house and hes in pants its bound to be frustrating for him.... fine if hes parents are doing it then everyone else needs to be doing it.

that aside... best thing is to keep asking him if he needs the toilet. eventually he will say yes. the other thing to point out is that they do actually need to know when they need to go to the loo so theres no point potty trainin before they do know that... i.e. alot of babies tend to tell you when they have done a poo or wee eventually they will tell u just before they do do it... generally that is a good time to introduce those lovely pull up pants so that there is enough time for them to make the connection and then get to the loo but it isnt a big deal if they dont make the connection they can just have a new pair of pants....

ermm just remember that most kids wont be potty trained till they are 3 going on 4 and that they all make mistakes so dont shout!!

What worked for my kids is The Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com This stool makes any toilet kid- sized. It really helped my son to pee standing up so that he could see what was happening and connect the sensations. I like that this stool cuts potty training in half by eliminating the potty chair. This stool really made the difference for my kids.

With my son, Thank god it was summer time, I just let him run around naked in the back yard. It worked really well. He was about 2 and a half at the time.
