well abortion has given opportunity to some women who were the victim of bad situations, like rape. But at the same time, it encouraged young girls to have sex without fearing to be responsible for another life.

First) Most abortions are related to the woman's age. Accordingly to researchers, the number of teenage abortions has increased. Each year, one million American teenagers become pregnant, and 85% of these pregnancies are unintended. About 35% of pregnant teenagers choose to have an abortion rather than raise a child.
Second) The concept of when life begins is essentially religious. If one accepts that life begins at the instant of conception, it means that a soul enters into the fertilized egg at this moment, and when an abortion is performed, a life is ended. Now we must consider who has the right to end the life of another human being.
Third) The baby MEDICALLY becomes alive at around 25-26 weeks, when it can survive without the mother...
Fourth) What about anencephalic baby? (Born without a Brain, but still has a brain stem.) --Imagine you have wanted a baby for ALL of your adulthood, and have tried for YEARS without success, FINALLY, you get pregnant. You find out the baby is anencephalic, would you rather have the baby, only to watch it die minutes to hours after birth, or have an abortion and try again? The baby cannot feel pain, cannot see, can barely breathe (And sometimes can't) by itself- It has nothing about it. You can literally hold it up to a light and see the light on the other side, through the baby's pink little head... Seriously, you are going to deny a woman her right not to feel as much pain?
Fifth) Freedom is a right- Freedom is having the choice to make decisions and actions that change you and those around you. You take away a persons freedom when you take away the right to their body.
Sixth) the woman will find other ways to get an abortion if she cannot go to a clinic, sh emight even die trying to get one. I think it should be legal because not only is it the womans body, it's better for her to be able to have the abortion carried out safely.
Don't think I'm Pro-Abortion -- I'm Pro-Choice. Abortion should usually only be used when needed, and it's not very good if it's used as birth control, but still, it isn't your life to run, and it's not your choice to make.

Wolf, "Think and feel"? Pfft. Nice try, but totally incorrect. The fetus cannot feel, and cannot think.
Besides, what about an abusive relashionship? Would you rather the child suffer all through life being hungry, cold, beaten and unloved, or not live at all. You people are simply delusional.

I think that it is a woman's choice, not one that can or should be made by the government, her family, or even the father of the unborn baby.
It would be so hard to abort a baby, but in some cases, it really is what needs to be done. If a woman honestly feels that she will not be able to support the baby, or she was raped, or her health is endangered by the pregnancy, then abortion really might be the right choice.
You can disagree with the idea of abortion, but no one should ever be allowed to tell someone what to do with their body and with a situation that is so hard and complex as it is.

Abortion was invented by God and is used daily in the form of miscarriage and natural abortion. Abortion of an unwanted fetus by mankind releases enough resouces to save 12 loved and wanted children.
There are 100 million children that are in need of adoption, so adoption is not the answer to stop abortion.
10 million children will die from a lack of money for medical care. So spending money to save an unwanted fetus takes away money that could be used to save a living child.
It is proven that when a pro lifer "saves" a fetus, it causes the death of 12 loved and wanted kids.
Anti abortion activist should be arrested for leading a fraudulent enterprise. They are doing nothing more than taking money from trusting souls that believe their scam.

I'm in UK, I remember 1967 abortion act being passed with the slogan "every child a wanted child" - and many speeches stating that it was to help those heart rending cases - the rapes; incest; severe handicap etc. Opponents at the time said it would open the floodgates to abortion on demand but were not listened to. They were so right. We now have abortion as a "lifestyle choice" and a generation of selfish people who insist on living the teenage lifestyle into their thirties. Men walk away from pregnant girlfriends, shirking parental responsibility, because they can. How women, families and society can be perceived as better off now than then is beyond me! But my heart goes out to the many women who go down this road - they have been lied to for forty years - I hope the pendulum will swing back again to a kinder and more loving society. Also - is there anybody who wants to do some research about how frequently post-abortion mums are pregnant again a short time later because they can't come to terms with their decision???
added:
Another contributor says abortion is better than having abused and unwanted children . How come we have abortion on demand AND serious abuse at higher and higher levels? Could it be that as we have become hardened to abortion, life has become less precious at every stage?

If a woman believes the child will be born into an unsatble (financially, emotionally etc.) environment that will disadvantage the child, then the mother should have the guts to say "I am not going to mess up another one" and should have the right to an abortion. Also if a woman has been raped, she should have the right to an abortion.

it should always be legal in a free nation. I believe it should be limited to the first 13 weeks because after that a fetus can think and feel.
morally its wrong if you choose to do so when there is a better option. I think god understands how hard the choice is and respects the stress of an unplanned pregnancy.
when the fetus or woman is unhealthy I think abortion is acceptable even after 13 weeks. morally? I think god wouldn't judge a person in this situation. there is no easy answer

I definitely feel that ABORTION today has become somewhat of a leisure or luxury for some promiscuous women, but all in the same token i feel that it is necessary depending on ones circumstance. People say oh, youre going to hell...its murder...its a sin, and not to take it lightly but lying is a sin, adultery is a sin, and a whole lot of other things....so all of this to say for each is own, we all have to live with the things we do. So there is definitely an emotional punishment that comes along with it!

Well I think that it is bad but good at the same time. I think if you were raped by a man and you were pregnant would you really want to carry on with the baby? I know that I wouldn't. It is bad though if you get rid of the baby just because you cant take care of it because there is always adoption places that can take the baby in and find it a terrific home.

I am a male of the species and becoming pregnant is not apt to happen to males in the present stage of human development. But as a human being, I think 1) abortion is tragic, 2) as science continues to research the remarkable mysteries of the woman's structure, and as more ways of preventing abortion emerge, it eventually will fade away, and 3) for now it is a woman's choice to make and not that of government, courts, or any religion.

Well I don't think it should be illegial because i've heard most women who have an abortion never forgive them selves so they punish them selves. I'm also not convinced that it is truly alive because it must rely on its mother 100% to survive. And the bible says Adam wasn't truly alive until God breathed life into him.
