Is there any studies that document the effect that listening to music while sleeping has on REM cycles?

What changes have you noticed while listening to music at night? More/less restful sleep? More/less dreaming?

I noticed that when I listen to music while asleep, I tend to wake up a bit more restful. However, the effect wear off after a while and the music becomes simply a "white noise". If it's a particularly memorable piece of music, it may trigger some interesting dreams (usually positive).

I understand when you sleep you go from alpha brain frequency
about ( 7 to 10 cps ) down to very deep sleep like theta maybe ( 4 cps ). I heard music may interfere with those cycles. Music resonates with a rhythm and your brain may pick up on the tempo of the music.

I imagine the answer to this would probably depend on the type of music being played.

For instance, the outcome of listening to Metallica, lets say, would probably be different from the outcome from playing Chopin.
