Use an inti-histamine such as Benadryl 25 mg every 4-6 hours. You can take up to 50mg of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) but it will make you sleep.
Put your ear down on a heating pad or moist warm towel in a bag
You can take up to 600-800 mg of ibuprophen at once. I need to research this, but I think the maxiumum amount of ibuprophen an adult can take in 24 hours is 1600 mg.
Ibuprophen reduces swelling and takes away pain.
Please do not stick anything in your ear such as clove oil, alcohol, or any other stuff unless you are seen by your MD first. Nothing should ever go in your elbow smaller than your elbow.

This website offers some great home remedies for ear aches.
http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/48/74.cfm
If you don't like any of these try taking some motrin or tylenol, and filling a large tube sock up with uncooked white rice. Seal the sock with a rubberband and place it in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to warm the uncooked rice. Place the warm sock on your ear.
Hope this helps. Feel better! :-)

yes. yes, yes. your sinuses are connected to your ears thru a tube, if blocked can cause pressure in the ear, and hearing difficulties,,your throat can hurt from the drainage running down the back of your throat, and the headache is from the pressure of them being full. i have had sinus trouble my whole life, as well as gettin tubes in my ears at 30. try a good decongestant, and you may want to try plain saline mist for your nose. it helps thin and clear the sinuses. if you have a chronic problem or one that will not go away,,,find a ear nose throat (ENT) specialist. there are many options to help get them cleared out.

Perhaps you could treat yourself to a really long, hot bath in the meantime, being sure to drink plenty of healthy fluids like cool (but not iced) water, and never once submerging your head below the bath water so you do not run the risk of getting a really nasty ear infction on top of the sinus infection?
Vitamin C and some Advil might also be helpful.

You can lay on a hot water bottle, it really works, or if you have some ear drops. If it gets so bad that you have trouble sleeping, go and buy Tylenol PM. It will help you sleep. I am having the same problems right now as you are. Sorry if I didn't help! :)

Lay on a hot water bottle. This will relieve the pressure in your ear. If you don't have a hot water bottle, put hot water in a ziploc bad and lay your ear on it. You may want to double up the baggie so it doesn't leak.
