My son just recently turned 2 and for his birthday we bought him a Toddler Power Wheels (toddler meaning it's smaller than the original for bigger kids and the power is operated by a button on the handle not by the foot) and he loves it.He also is interested in books.Any book that shows animals, shapes, colors or his favorite character(s) Elmo or Little Einsteins. He's also into cars and he got a racing car track w/ 2 cars (Fisher Price) and all he has to do to operate the cars is shake them, put them on the track and they go! It's really up to you whatever you decide it depends on a couple of things though how well you know the child, what excites the child and what the child is interested in.In the end colors, music and anything that expands their little minds always works.GOOD LUCK

go buy a "sand bucket"
the ones used to make sand castles, or play in the sand
& fill it with toys that can be used to play outside with
ex:
chalk
bubbles
small rubber ball
etc
or fill it with "Moonsand" which is alot like playdough
along with some fun molds that he can use with it
These are all usually together in the isle at the stores.
If you think he's a little young to get a gift like that,
get him some brightly illustrated books, or anything down the toddler isle at the toystore=)
You could get him a new cd with songs that most toddlers love, or that teach him necessary things, like the abc's, or colors. He could listen to it at home or in the car=)
Good luck!!

Get him a nice outfit... his mom will totaly appreciate it. Becaus ewhile everyone is running out buying him toys and other things he doesnt really need, you can get him something that is an actual neccesity. Get it a size bigger so he can wear it for a long time. and throw in a pack of underwear with the new "it" chracter on it. I guarentee he'll be pulling down his pants just to show them off to complete strangers

I bought my nephew an educational toy, but he loved it. I found it at Target and it was only $20. It was by Leap Frog and it is a pull toy that looks like a Caterpillar, with different color shoes on, with a letter of the alphabet on each shoe. You can put it is color or letter mode, or song mode. When you pull it around it sings. He was turning two and he loved it out of all his new toys, he carried that one around all day.

We bought my son a bicycle with training wheels on it when he turned two. He absolutely loved it. It only took him like two days to learn how to ride it. They are not that expensive either, we found his at Academy Sports for $35. They have just the right size for that age.

A train set always goes over well. They also like trucks, blocks, toy dishes/food and books.
Some of my personal favorites are sidewalk chalk and bubbles. Kids love them, they're cheap to buy and they eventually disintegrate into nothing.

- Bubbles
- Sidewalk chalk
- Big wheel (like a tricyle but lower to the ground)
- Big boxes (to make forts, castles, etc. with)
- Balls of all shapes and sizes
- Cake mix, gummy worms and oreos - can make "worms and dirt" cupcakes
- Wagon (can be pulled around in this or pull things around in it)
- Sandbox with sand
- Sand and water table (can get about anywhere, but Target sells a nice one for about $40)
- Little people playsets (castles and boats are really nice)
- Play kitchen set for cooking, imaginary play, etc.
- Gooey, icky things like silly putty, kits to make icky drinks and foods, things with bugs in them, glitter glue (age appropriate though)
- Musical instruments you have made yourself or bought
- Pop bottle science kit (can make self, or buy a kit - with beans/rice, colored water with things in it like glitter, etc.)
Tried to give a range of prices here - really, anything goes as long as it's safe for his age range - what would you have liked at that age? (:
