Is it true that when you rub the tip of a cucumber it takes the bitterness taste off?

It's an old wive's tale.
I used to do that, but now I just slice off the ends and peel the skins. It taste just as good.

Yes it is. Just cut off tip of cucumber and rub the piece you cut off on the cucumber, circular motion, and you will start to see a semi thick white foam like substance start to gather. Rinse off and then peel and eat. I love to slice the cucumber and using half a lime sprinkle the juice over the slices. Add salt and pepper and enjoy!!!
