I have braces. I got them a MONTH ago.
oh the pain. it wasnt too bad though. just do something at all times so you're distracted.
For me, no pain releivers worked. but thats me. and i am VERY dramatic. lol.
Of course it hurt, but its really not THAT bad. youll whine for.. 3 days? it seemed like the third day i took tylenol [chewable.. i cant swallow pills. its pathetic (: ] and i got on my computer for several hours.. and it pretty much stopped.
If you get braces, remember as soon as you get them on to go eat ALOT. at a restraunt. tons of food. tons. cause itll hurt to eat that night.
umm.. at night.. i slept in my parents room for two days. im 13. i can do that. :] i also suggest to sleep alot.
DONT CHEW GUM until the soreness stops. i was sore, and a friend told me to chew gum, cause itll stop the soreness. OMG I BIT DOWN AND IT HURT BADLY. haha. BAD FRIEND. btw.. chew sugarless. anything else will stick to your braces.
braces reallyyyy arent that bad.
the worst part is getting them on. ahaha. seriously. its an hour of stretching lips with this weird catraption. but it doesnt hurt.
when i was getting my braces on, i growled at them. haha :]
ok hope i helped. good luck if you get them :]

It only took my braces 5 days to stop hurting after I got them on.
They hurt really bad the first 3 days. On the 4th day the pain started to go down and by the fifth day I was already eating solid foods again.
I've known some people that took 2 weeks before their braces stopped hurting.
For my sister, her braces never hurt. After she got them on she said she didn't feel any pain at all for the next two months.
So really, the answer to your question varies from 0 days to about two weeks.

ahhh, i have lots of experience in this area. i had braces for 5 years, i just got them off last year. the braces will hurt for about 3-4 days, sometimes it can hurt for up to a week. i strongly suggest taking advil/tylenol to ease the pain, and eat soft foods...like ice cream, and soup. each time you go to get them adjusted (for me it was every 6 weeks) it will start to hurt again. only for a few days, however.

I got braces 3 days ago, and it will hurt initially and when you bite foods, especially with your front teeth. After a while though, the pain will not be as bad, but it will be uncomfortable and definitely feel strange with everything poking around your mouth.

It's not that bad. Advil helps the pain. The pain last for three or four days, a week at the most. On maybe the third day, if the pain starts to ease, try chewing something really soft and work your way up to harder things. It's not as bad as you think, I promise!

It really depends on the person. You get very minor pain everytime you have an ortho appointment usually because they tighten it, but it should go away within the nex two days after every check up.

For me, it hurt the first two months but now it doesn't really hurt (I've had them on for four months). Occasionally, I'll have pain but it's controlled with advil
