Sadly, no. Still today, the majority use metal tubes and have to clean and autoclave them. They claim they need them for "counter balance" - whatever...it does not take much to get used to the disposables if you use quality ones.
We have been a fully disposable studio for years and use the one inch grip disposable tubes. Sure, they are a buck for each and yeah, we go through a lot of them - but it is worth it.
We don't have to waste time cleaning and sterilizing and we don't have to deal with cross contamination issues in the process. To do it right, the grips must be removed from the tubes to clean them and I can't think of any studios I know that does that. YES, lots gets lodged in all over the place and even with an ultrasonic there can be particles remaining.

Yea if the tattoo artist is using a metal one they'll most likely and they better put it into a autoclave which sterilizes it by putting the ink tubes under immense heat which pretty much obliterates all the bacteria and anything that was left behind. If its a plastic one they just dispose of it but make sure when you do get that the paint isnt already in there which could mean that the artist was lazy and doesn't want to waste ink and doesn't care about your health.. good luck!

what ink tube? are you talking about the casing that goes around the needles or something that they dip their needles in for ink? my artist uses metal tubes that surround the needles and he has a lot of them and after each tattoo he puts them in a case and at the end of the day his tubes get put in the autoclave. my artist uses plastic dipping caps for ink so i'm not sure if that could be what you're talking about as well. if they're metal then they could be autoclaved too.
no blood, bacteria or viruses will survive an autoclave. it's what doctors and dentists use to sterilize their equipment as well.

The metal tubes are always recycled. Minute amounts of blood and pathogens can get lodged in the tubes, so the artist will have to use an ultrasound to first clean off the blood & other particles. After that they are packed in autoclave bags and processed in the autoclave to make sure that any pathogens and spores in the tubes are killed.

No, tattoo ink is not sterilized. Only the needles and tubes. But think about it, the ink will have blood and skin in it.

OK the metal ones are reusable they are put into an autoclave and sterilized after each use. Your dentist uses the same type of eqpt. to sterilize the tools he uses in your mouth.
The plastic tubes are disposable and 1 time use.
It is STERILE when it is opened and used on you. There is no residue or anything else on it. No worrys..:)

The tubes and tips go into the sterilizer, the needles get used only once. However, if you have qualms about the tips and tubes, most artists will open a new, sterile pack for you. Just be sure and mention it, (they are expensive.)

here in NY i have been to alot of the tattoo places, and the ink is usually poured into plastic containers before the tattooing starts. the full ammount never ever sees the tatto ink being used. afterward the cups are disposed of. all metal items (excluding the needles which are thrown away) are sterilized in a special machine.

No, they don't get thrown away.......first they are cleaned by hand, then put in so a sonic cleaner, with a special ingredient that will shake loose any ink (not so much blood) and then they are all sterilized
along with everything else that needs it.
