I utilize feng shui, much to the dismay of my husband. I have several books, attended lectures, and attempt to apply to my life. For me, it seems to work.
My most difficult obstacle is clutter. Search the web sites listed below to get started. Familiarize yourself with the bagua map - really helps to get perspective.
See if there is anyone in your area who might do an initial consultation - rates vary but it can be worth it.

Some magazines deal with this issue, but why do you want to feng shui? It relates to allowing spirits in your house to move freely. If you don't believe in house-roaming spirits, there's no need to feng shui. And if you do believe in them, why? There's no good reason to.
If you're simply trying to organize your home, hire a decorator to come in and give you some ideas.

fengshui is about using the 5 elements to make your life easier by bringing you good wealth or good health. it is dependent on how big your space is (which holds the chi) - the bigger your space is, the more chi it holds.
fengshui deals more with the whole house, rather than just doing it to a particular room. even if you are just renting 1 room in a big house.
so, if you are just doing fengshui to your room, even if you achieve a good fengshui in that room, it won't have a significant effect on your life, unless the whole house has at least 2/3 good fengshui.
forget about websites. most of these will want to sell you something.
there are some good yahoo groups out there. but these groups do not teach you fengshui. most of the members already know fengshui, and they are there to discuss some fengshui issues. other groups are only by invitation.
groups:
chineseastrology@yahoogroups.c...
ChineseFS@yahoogroups.com
Fengshui_Destiny@yahoogroups.c...
TradFengShui@yahoogroups.com
forget about most books published in english, because most of these talk about clearing your clutter, which is not chinese fengshui.
at the core of fengshui are the fengshui concepts, which is derived from the concept of yin and yang. a couple of these concepts are flying stars and 8 mansions.
ms. eva wong wrote about flying stars called a master course in fengshui (ISBN: 1-57062-584-0). you can get that book if you want to learn flying stars.
ms. lillian too wrote many books on 8 mansions. her books are good. but you need to note that she is a good writer not a fengshui master. though her books are nicely done, i would still recommend you to get ms. eva wong's book. because flying stars can really have a significant effect on your life than 8 mansions esp if you do it right.
other ways to learn is to pay a fengshui master/ practitioner who want to teach their craft by seminars.

There are plenty of books on the subject at the bookstore. I have three of them. They give you the basics and walk you through design rules.
