According to some freakshow-religious-nuts, your *idols* can be classified as anything from the crock-pot in your kitchen cupboard, to the crotch-pot between your legs!

Anything is fair game to them. If they don't like ya (which none of them truly does... I can say this for I was one of 'them') they will say any/all things you do is evil.

I grew up being told that the TV set *could* be considered an idol.... some in our church actually believed that (these people were usually over 60yrs.)

To the religious nuts... YOU are their biggest 'prize'. If they *convert* you, they get mega points with their church and they go around boasting they've converted a mega-non-believer. The irony is, it's a sin to boast!!

Gawd I hated being a christian..... you can never do anything right... but if you did happen to do things right,... you couldn't even be glad about it cause it was god doing it THROUGH you and not you doing the act itself. It's a LOSE/LOSE situation.

You do bad=your fault. You do good=god's doing.

You're nothing.... you're a puppet...you're invisible....

I thought idols were those crosses people seem to be weird about, and the American flag which for some reason can't touch the ground or be burned.

At least we Pagans know that 'things' are just that -things. Any statuary we have are no more than focus tools. Nothing to cry about it they drop.

I left the large wooden man they carved into a suffering crucifix when I left the Christian Chruch. Some how I wasn't worshiping idols then though....
I have to say, I'm confused to. They really should keep us updated on this sort of thing.

It's just the "any deity other than the deity that I worship is false and evil" mentality. Since most pagans are theistic and do not in fact worship the Christian god, our gods and goddesses are labeled "false idols" and we are then told we'll burn for an eternity for recognizing them...

You are right, they are ignorant. They are going by a story about the Jewish Exodus from Egypt and the 10 commandments. they stereotype all non christian religions which includes the fact we supposedly worship idols (wish they would get their facts straight!)

I don't know. I can't find mine either. But they keep telling me I bow down to stone and wood idols and that I think they are Gods.

Don't you love it when people try to tell you what you believe and think? There's just no explaining to those people that what they are doing is something 4th graders do to try gain popularity with others. They just don't get it.

Oh come on St Toad, surely you worship the Vile Temptress! And isn't that what the bible is all about? Disparaging the 'woman'?
Its probably because we worship everything in life. Goddess, who knows, I can't make sense of insanity myself.

Idols can be things like cars, sex, money, drugs... basically anything you pay a lot of attention and to.

People really tell you you're worshiping idols?
