he is elder bro of my hubby, he isn't married yet. When we (me and hubby) asked him that he shuld get married now, he joked with my hubby that u married earlier then me u have to give me 3 million as penalty.
It was funny he kept saying u guys shuld give it to me then i will think about it. I said in return ,'' see how beautiful neiece i have given u'' and u still ask for 3 million.
it was a joke. when we came in room. my hubby said, i cannot beleive u said something so stupid , unappropriate and serious.
I was gobsmacked he said watch out wt u say. It can be perceived as serious and non relevant ans to a joke.
DO U PEOPLE THINK IT WAS STUPID OF ME? am i stupid?

sounds to me like your brother-in-law was trying to reply the best way he could to a very personal question. Nothing is more personal to a person than making a life long commitment to another person. Why do married people think it is there duty to get single people to marry in the first place?
Had this question not been asked in the beginning there would have been no response and you would not have to worry about if what you said was wrong or not. However i think your hubby flew off the handle and acted irresponsibly about your comment. In the future i think you two should mind your own business and not worry about other people. No i do not think you are stupid. I do however believe if a person is going to ask a question here they should post it in such a manner so everyone can read what they mean without having to decipher it. check spelling and a bit of editing goes a long way.

He might have taken it the wrong way. It is definitely possible that he saw it as a sexual offer involving a child. (Not that it was actually intended that way, though.) There are many people out there who will jump to conclusions along those lines, and an equal number of people who get paranoid as well. I myself have known people who have gotten themselves in trouble over seemingly innocuous jokes, all due to misunderstandings.

Your not stupid. Things just didn't come out the way the were intended. Don't worry about it. Things are fine. He is still your single brother in law who is saying he wants money not marriage.

I dont think what you said was any worse than what your brother in law said about getting 3 million as a penalty. I dont understand why he said that in the first place, but I would ask your husband what did his brother mean.

I don't think so.
The way you've described it you didn't say anything out of order. If your husband sees it differently then maybe one of you have misread the situation. That doesn't mean either of you are stupid, just different opinions.
Maybe tell the brother you are sorry if you offended him, and if he says he wasn't, then you have nothing to worry about.

Actually i think you as a compliant housewife by what it sounds like should be exactly that. A quiet, compliant, "stupid" housewife, exactly as those who are around you treat you. Or figure out what it is you really want.

personally i don't think what you said is wrong at all. in fact i think its witty and is perfect for your in law's comment.
may be your husband is a bit too protective or wants to appear like the "perfect" person in front of his brother. frankly i think what your in law said was kind of inappropriate.

Your husband needs to take a month's worth of chill pills. You did nothing wrong.
