I'm going to get a cat ( a male) I want to keep it in the house. How can I house train him? Is it easy? About how long will it take for my cat to be trained?

You shouldn't have a problem with the cat. I got my cat and brought him home and sat him straight in the litter box so I knew he would know where to go to use the restroom. I never had any problem with him. Good luck have all kinds of fun with your new cat. God Bless

I have never encountered a cat that did not want to use a cat box.

We have a ranch, and have a feral colony of cats that we support. During the rainy season, my husband put a litter box in the carport where some of the cats stayed. Every one of them used the litter box, and did not soil the carport.

For kittens indoors, we take a shallow cat box, (not the covered type) and after the kitten has eaten, we place the kitten on the cat litter, and take their little front paws and gently guide them to dig a hole. Then we turn the kitten around, and swab their little behinds with a warm, wet cotton ball. The kitten will urinate or defecate. Then, we turn the kitty back, and with their little paws, cover up what they did. We have raised many clean, fastidious kitties like this.

I would recommend taking your cat to the vet soon as you get him. If the vet says he is old enough, have him neutered. This will prevent "spraying", that some male cats are prone to do.

Good luck with your kitty.

Cats are very easy to litterbox train. Just put litter in the pan and show the cat where it is. He will do the rest. If he uses the bathroom outside of the box, it is either due to a medical problem or a behavioral issue. Normally though, kittens instincts will take them to the box. Good luck and have fun!

Very easy. Just show the cat the litter box, put him in a few times and he'll usually go right to it. Keep it cleaned out because cats will go outside the box if it's dirty. Also get your cat neutered right away to avoid a spraying habit that is so difficult to break.

i like which you put in each and all the appropriate information! 9 years outdated is getting up there for a kitty so as that could come into play. i think of you have a sturdy attitude using fact now and returned a cat only gets a wild hair. that is extra advantageous to attend and spot if it occurs returned till now racking up the vet expenditures. one element i might ask is that if the canines became interior the homestead with the cat on my own whilst the incident got here approximately. they could are transforming into alongside nicely for 3 years yet now and returned unsupervised they could have a spat and the cat could only have been declaring his territory using canines. something else that could have exceeded off, somebody knocked on the door while you have been long gone. in line with threat it scared kitty and in an attempt to scare away the felons he asserted his territory. If the canines became in contact, in line with threat barking on the concentrated visitor, this could have further rigidity. it extremely is often toughest to comprehend habit of animals whilst one isn't present day to confirm the situation. wish kitty feels extra advantageous quickly.

Cats cover their waste instinctively. Have the box ready when you come in the door, and set him down in it. That's all I've ever had to do with even young kittens. Once they know where it is, that's all it takes.
