it depends if that person is not afraid of being in prison for ten years he will still continue to smoke or if that person is so addicted he will not stop smoking until someone will knock some sense out of that guy or girl

All lives you might save would be lost in the new gang violence that would spring up around the illegal cigarette business, like other illegal drugs do now. I favor legalizing marijuana, because it is hypocritical to make marijuana illegal while alcohol and tobacco are legal. Marijuana is no more dangerous than alcohol or tobacco.
By the way, I do not drink, smoke, or use any illegal drugs or approve of their use and will do everything in my power to prevent my children from using them. But I know that most other people do use these things and we live in a free democratic country and the majority should rule.

Actually, I am an avid non-smoker, but I take offense to the government trying to make that decision for me. I choose not to smoke, and I think that in privately owned places of business, it should be the business owner's choice whether or not to allow it. Then, it would be my decision as a consumer whether or not to patronize his/her business based on the smoking/non-smoking issue. I think this goes so much further than smoking vs. non-smoking. It is a matter of the government overstepping their bounds in regard to our freedoms. That being said, I absolutely do not think that we could save more lives by making smoking outdoors illegal; we could give up more freedoms that our forefathers fought so hard to provide, though.

Yes. Put them in prison with the pot smokers. But you will need to make a huge donation towards their upkeep cause some of us are all out of tax money. And all those lives you save will then contribute to over population and global warming. Ooops. You forgot about that didn't you?

Smoking can cause cancer, the same with exhaust gasses of cars, factories, electricitycentrals, and so on When you put all those users of it in prison and feed them well, you will save millions of lifes. They will live however without heating, light or food and probably without clean water. That problem you will solve too I am sure.

You sound like a former smoker. Think of the taxpayers money wasted for keeping people in prison longer.
I am a former smoker who resents having the government telling other people whether or not they can smoke.
You could wind up having a lot of tobacco-chewers spitting on your lawn.

You are the kind who doesn't think things through.
I quit smoking once.
My doctor told me to go BACK to smoking, as cheaper and LESS damaging to my health than the medications he would have to prescribe for my medical condition otherwise!
I am not alone in this.
Do you also favor another world war as a population control measure to reduce the "excess" population of the planet?

NEWS FLASH!!! Second hand smoke has NEVER proved to cause anything!
Furthermore, there are more toxic gases in a busy parking lot or on a street than there would be if you got locked in a small room full of smokers.
