Remember who he is: keep him and his negative remark in perspective. He is just one sad, lonely, and probably kinda dumb person out of thousands here on YA.
It's ridiculous for people to be prejudiced in this day and age. Prejudice against specific people is always for no reason other than this unfortunate person was probably taught to think that way. He might have been taught to think that way by somebody who would've beat him or harrassed him some other way if he didn't believe that way.
If you have this trouble at work, you know you can report the bigot who's bothering you. Racism in the workplace is not legal. Just use this phrase with your supervisor: hostile work environment. That should motivate him/her to act. If he/she doesn't, go over his/her head to the next supervisor up.
Good luck.

Although no one should be judged solely on the basis of race, specifically because such a superficial difference means nothing in the larger picture of common features of humanity (which you listed), some people just do so because they cannot help it. We all judge people based upon their appearances and due to our own prejudices because it is easy tool we use to interact with people without spending too much time and effort trying to actually get to know them. Further, we assure that whatever prejudices we have leave us feeling superior, because, at the end of the day, the human ego is the driving force behind almost everything we do. It is a fickle, irrational need, but it is there...

As a Christian I would like to just say that what ever color you are it is okay with Jesus, I am white and people all over the us think that Jesus was white, of course we know that people of middle eastern descent are not white so Jesus was not white. I do correct a few people from time to time about the color of Jesus, I think one of the reasons he was born in the middle east was because you really can't put a color on any middleeast person, they are not really dark or really white, and of course God the Father is a Spirit and white people have to be reminded of that too, anyway sorry you got put down for your color but remember Jesus said that in the world you would have tribulation but be of good cheer, Christ has overcome the world. May God Bless YOU

Aww, you really are bothered by this and rightlfully so. You are right, each one of us is unique and beautiful! Im not a big fan of reporting because this is a public forum and I am in a country that allows free speech, so thats a personal issue. However, I think its important to remember what you said about variety and colors in everything that God made. You are very much loved!

Some people are just twisted and hateful, deriving pleasure from your anger, fear or pain.
So sorry you had to experience such a thing.
It will probably not be the last.
Learn to set boundaries for you. Let good things into your life like wisdom, encouragement and comfort.
Quickly debunk and dispel bad, negative, or nasty things. Don't let it get to you.
In essence, don't let one bad apple spoil the commodity of caring and loving people.

I'm sorry to hear you have having troubles "in real life". That is uncalled for. People are people.
As to experiences on Y!A... ignore them, block them. Hiding behind a keyboard with anonymity can bring out the worst in some people.

I was the worst bigot your likely to have ever met. Until I asked Jesus to take it away and He did. That easy and that quick. What a relief. It was like losing a hundred pounds off my shoulders.
Miracles do happen if you believe.

My opinion is that this person's position in life is I'm Okay-You're not. Clinically speaking that is paranoia. The guy or girl is arrogant, without morals and probably a pervert too. Report him or her so we can all live a better life.
