I got mine done a couple years ago. It was my third piercing (I've gotten four more since), so it kind of depends on your pain tolerance. It's not excruciating in the least. The clamp hurts the worst, definitely more than the actual piercing. I noticed my navel being sore the first few days, but then pain diminished. Wear low riding pants that won't rub against the piercing the first few weeks to keep it from getting irritated.
Be sure to take good care of the piercing and keep it clean! It is very common for them to get infected (i heard somewhere that about half of people who their navel pierced get it infected). Mine was infected, it wasn't awful, but it's pretty nasty...so just take good care of it!
Good luck...don't be too scared, it's proof of how tough you are! ;-)

When one of my friends go her's pierced, she said it didn't hurt that bad when she was getting it pierced, but afterwards it was really sore and it hurt for anything to touch it. Then another one of my friends said it didn't hurt that much, so I guess it just depends on the person and how they deal with pain.

Hello??? Anybody home???
Punching a hole in your skin is gonna hurt some.
If it gets infected, it'll hurt more.
Besides piercings are 'over`.
It's not the '90`s any more.
