There is a small "pad" in the joint where the maxillary and mandible join. This "pad" is what lubricates and cushions this particular joint. When you were hit on the jaw area, the clicking and popping sounds were where the "pad" in between this joint had slipped or was askew. You may have gotten it to slip back into the correct position with the ice and movement that you did following the accident.

If you happen to have any recurring pain it would be best to take Advil or Motrin, these work better for reducing swelling and inflammation. To ease the soreness use moist heat (damp towel in microwave works) on both joints at the same time. After the heat has relaxed the joint, then exercise the joint by opening and closing, gently stretching your mouth open wider each time. This will relax the joint and offer you relief.

If the pain or clicking continues after trying this you should consult your dentist, let them know you are having TMJ problems due to an accident. They will either see you or refer you to someone who can help you. The moist heat and exercise should alleviate your problem and hopefully it won't reoccur.

WHAT?! What nation are you in now?? And how would they do this?! For God's sake, you are 23! And your mum and dad are fairly unreasonable and feature acted such as you did anything dangerous! Sure, mum and dad beat youngsters while the children are younger and all...however you are 23 and you'll do those matters with out any one's' permission! I bet while you are living along with your mum and dad you're to comply with their regulations. Your plan appears to be a well, good-concept out one. Do well to your task and get the heck outta there!

Jaw clicking means that the jaw joint disc is unstable and esp with pain you need to call your family dentist or go to the ER.

ALLIE,

NOT THAT ACCIDENTS ARE EVER GOOD, BUT THIS ONE WAS BENEFICIAL TO YOU.
YOUR JAW JOINT WAS RESTORED TO THE PROPER RELATIONSHIP WHERE THE SLIPPED JAW JOINT DISK WAS NO LONGER CAUSING THE CLICKING AND POPPING OF BEFORE.
IF YOU HAVE THIS RETURN, SEE A DENTIST FOR APPROPRIATE CARE.
