Jeans, T-shirts and sweaters, a wind and rain proof jacket.
Bring some shorts if you really like them, but the worst of summer is over even in the south.
If you are likely to have business meetings, fancy dinners or meeting people in a formal setting or go to a classical music performance, bring nice slacks, formal jacket and a tie, and as many shirts as you think you need.
As a tourist you might pack a tie and a shirt for one or two nice nights out, but most tourists never wear them.
Women will want some skirts and nice tops for fancy nights out.
If you go clubbing, a pair of nice shoes, slacks, shirt (and tie) will get you into the clubs where they have clothing rules.

I checked out www.weatherunderground.com and checked out the temps for those cities in september and saw that none got over 80 plenty dipped in high 50's and low 60's. So bring a hoody and few longsleeve shirts. You should be fine. It also depends if your leaving from a warm climate to cold temprate/mediterreanen climate. Just be prepared cause Paris and Munich will be kinda cold and then you'll have Athens and Rome and they're a bit warmer and dry.

Go to your My Yahoo page (you can get there whether you've ever used it before or not, it just won't be customized) and click on weather. Check the local weather in all those places by typing the city name into the search box. That'll tell you what to prepare for.
As to packing, be sure to take stuff that isn't going to look horribly rumpled out of your suitcase. Be sure to take a lightweight sweater or sweatshirt and a light jacket. Nights get chilly this time of year. Look at your itinerary and see the activities in which you'll be taking part. Be sure to take appropriate dress for all of them. Europeans are a little less casual than we Americans tend to be, so take a couple of things that are at least a little bit classy. Make sure you can mix and match your pieces so you have wardrobe flexibility options.
