A better choice in this price range is the Lexus RX400h AWD; however, none of them beats the Ford Escape Hybrid (at least $20k less up front, lower lifetime operating costs, better resale recovery percentage of original investment -- plus it's better for the environment).
If you're worried about which is the "cooler" SUV in which to be seen with your friends, sock away the difference in a Fidelity fund or invest in your own business: when you get out of college, you'll have an extra $100k-or-so to play with that your less wise friends don't.

Avoid the Land Rover. It's one of the most problematic vehicles ever made. Range Rover? For $75 grand you can do a lot better. ML430- they have issues and are UGLY. Acura MDX is good, but very mundane and boring.
Try the BMW X5. It's about that size and is a MUCH better choice than any you have mentioned. It's more dependable and fun to drive than any of those as well, and can be had for around $55-60 with a V8. Actually, the new inline 6 of BMW has a lot of power for the size and costs about $6,000 less.

I would get the range rover first, then the acura. forget the land rover and the mercedes. If you can afford those, get a porsche cayenne because it is the faster and is better offroad than the cars you listed : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_Cayenne
http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/cayenne/
The Mercedes-Benz ML430 is a mid-size luxury SUV with light off-road capability. Despite poor quality control, the ML430 became a huge sales success in the United States.
The Acura MDX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by the Japanese automaker Acura. The MDX is the first crossover SUV to have third-row seating. It is built by Honda of Canada Manufacturing Ltd. It competes with the Lexus RX, Infiniti FX, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and Mercedes-Benz M-Class. The Sport package features active suspension dampers that improves handling according to road conditions with a button in the center stack to switch to Sport/Comfort modes.
The land rover is slow but is better offroad.
The range rover is fast (for a suv) and is good offroad.

Wow. You have a good list. I'd recommend an Acura MDX out of your list It has great overall power, room and just the right amount of luxury and thensome Although I like Acura.....
Another recommendation is a Lexus GX or RX:

Considering this is your first car, you're probably going to wreck it. Get a Geo Tracker.
