A question for Witches?

I have just been asked a question I cannot answer, and I thought I would pass it on to my many Witch friends on here (Wiccan, Pagan or otherwise):

Is it possible to cast a spell of any kind without the use of potions and stuff?

I clarify 'stuff' as like candles, verses, and various equipment.

Wabbit ! A Spell is nothing more than a prayer. Many spells are prayers with props but it IS not only possible to do a spell without ANY other thing other than the Witch him/her self, Most spells are exactly such things. Candles, wax images, herbs and all the other stuff merely serves as a means to focus the intent of the Witch. Most beginning Witches rely on such "props" because they haven't had enough experience to be able to focus their intent and method on the spiritual level. Such focus usually involves years of hard work and practice. Basically what us accomplished witches do is "stock" a "virtual" supply cabinet in our own Inner Temples on the spiritual plane of existence. We GO to our spiritual inner temples to actually DO our spell work through deep meditation. Once there we can do anything and everything that we could in a physical place in our own home. In fact we can do more for we can visualize into manifestation very rare and impossible to find ingredients that we would be unable to obtain in our Mundane lives.

So most Witches CAn and DO perform spells without props a lot. Beginnersare stuck with simply verbal spells, accomplished Witches are able to access their own inner temples that are fully stocked with whatever we need and canassemble any kind of spell or healing potion on the spiritual plane, We can ALSO do simple verbal spells as well, the same as a beginnning witch. We just have MORE tools at our disposal and know how to use them.

Yes. In fact I rarely need or use potions and stuff. I usually use something that I see in my garden or along the way on a walk with my dog. When I want to cast, sometimes the inspiration comes from a leaf or a stick or a rock. Or a dream...

Sometimes, the spell work comes on me unexpectedly and I just see it completed and done and I almost don't need to do or say anything. It is like a rush............

I found that when I used to use "stuff" to try to make a spell happen, it didn't work. Spell work is 99% brain and heart work for me.

Yes. All of that stuff is just ways to help a person focus on a specific thing. "Magic" is not anything other than the will of the individual... Just like the energy of the body and mind will fluctuate depending on your emotional state... that same energy is directed towards a specific result. One shouldn't expect though, just because a person Wants something to happen, that it will happen. But the "magic", the energy is focused to help the individual to achieve the result they desire.

Just casting a spell isn't going to give you results like that. Casting the spell is focusing your energy so that YOU can achieve the result you desire. It isn't the "spell" doing it. A simple example is like waking first thing in the morning and telling yourself "I am going to have a GREAT day!" and saying it with meaning.... this focuses your mind and your energy on having that great day. But just saying "I'm going to have a GREAT day" doesn't mean that suddenly your day is great. ^_^

Yes, you can by the power of intentionality. Visualising the situation and creating the conditions to bring to the visible world that which is still invisible seems to be the way to avoid any other means. In my opinion, except for verses or chants, the rest are just means to amplify the real power, which is emitted from us.

Magic is "the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with the will" (Crowley's definition, which I think sums it up nicely). The key word is "will" - words, tools, potions, etc. are intended to help focus that will and that intent, but are not necessarily required for all spells.

Whether, meditating, praying or using transforming magic the objects one employs are just a focus for the energy employed.
In higher magic it is ritual and incantation, etc. Magic starts with tranforming the consciousness to allow cause and effect.
So the answer is yes.

You will find other religions also use 'stuff' as a focus. It just varies from religion to religion.

Hell yeh. Spells are about power drawn from inside you. All the ritual stuff is just to manipulate it. If you have enough control it's all possible.

Absolutely. I tend to write mine on pieces of paper and burn them. Magic doesn't come from the materials we use. They are just focuses.
