How do you make curls like this?

Believe it or not those long curls are done with a flat iron. Take about 1 inch wide sections of the hair and begin as you would normally flat iron your hair. Instead of going straight down the hair you will SLOWLY (key word slowly ... and never ever stop) turn the flat iron in the way you want the curl to go. Continue turning the flat iron down the hair until you get to the end of the hair. Let dry before you comb or brush. In the pic of Amanda her curls are turning away from her face. Curling your hair with a flat iron is pretty easy once you get the hang of it but it does take some practice. If your hair doesn't hold curl very well you may want to spray the hair with hairspray or thermal spray before you begin. Aquage beyond shine is what I use before I use the flat iron not only to extend the hold but to protect my hair from the heat. Hope this helps.

that's easy... i do this to my hair all the time. you need a curling iron with a big barrel like 1 1/2" or more and you just start with the end of the hair in the curling iron and roll it all the way up and hold it for about 10-15 sec so it gets hot enough than let it out... beautiful curls. oh ya make sure your iron gets real hot like around 350... the cheap curling irons wont work here.

i literally JUST did this with my hair and i used a hair straightener.
you have to let it sit until it gets as HOTT as it can go.
then you have to go sooooooo slow [you'll know if you're going slow enough if you see steam when you do it] and turn in the direction that you want the curls, it works just like a curling iron except you have to go much more slowly and you don't have to old the curl at the top of your head.

You use blow dryer to dry your hair giving them volume with a brush comping your hair up side down. If your hair need straightening you do it with a flat iron and then you make curl in the lower part with a curly iron (prefer large one).
