There are many parallels between Jesus and Mithras, Horus, Dionysus, Krishna, Osiris etc. That doesn't mean that the stories were borrowed from each other. God keeps repeating itself, many events recur through the aeons.

Christianity has elements from pre-Christian religions such as Mithraism, but it was based on Yeshua the Nazarite. The churchianity of the followers of Peter and Paul hasn't completely destroyed the mystical true Christianity of the Gnostics and Ebionites.

Mithras was a prophet for the Age of Taurus, the bull. Mithras is associated with bulls. Jesus was the prophet for the Age of Pisces, the fish. The original symbol of Christianity was a fish. We're now at the end of the Age of Pisces and the start of the Age of Aquarius the water-bearer.

The iconic image that is used in art of Jesus, with the halo about the head, is certainly not exclusive to the Christian figure.
It appears on statues of Mithras and Solar dieties in the Roman world.
I can see little comparison though in any other aspects of Christianity. Indeed we don't even know what the secrets were that the initiates of the Mithras cult learnt. They are more likely to compare with the Asian based religons in which it had its roots.

I once told a joke and thought I was being pretty clever and original, then somebody told me I got from someone else. I had never heard of this before and knew i didn't get it from them. This is where scholasticism should kick in. It is not enough to recognise similarities of thought from various groups over time. But it is the responsibility to prove that one group actually stole that belief from the other and didn't arrive at it independently. What I always find amusing is Christianity gets blamed for stealing everyone Else's beliefs without the accuser ever proving their assertion. What also is amusing is that many people don't seem to know much about languages and play word games. Dees a word in one language mean the same thing as a word that sounds alike in a foreign language? This is linguistic assassination.

Mithras was a Bull cult. Based on the Age of Taurus. Just like they worshipped the Ram in the Age of Aires. And many cults are revived over and over. Due to peoples silliness and lusts.
Like wanting to screw around, and convincing peope who WANT to be convinced. That it is somehow holy to LOVE everybody. Until a jealous lover puts them in the dirt!

Salvation was preached with Adam and Eve after the fall, and then many times including the names in the genealogy in Genesis. Mithra's story was a dupe.

Perhaps Mithra and other religions predating Christianity is God's way of preparing the world for the Birth of His Son. Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies.

Yes. Christ is almost entirely, and there were many before mithras with the same story...but Christianity is plagiarized from many sources, to just pin it down to mithras is unfair.

A lot of Christianity has been "borrowed" from the Mithraic :-
Mithras - Sun God ,Jesus - Son of God
Mithras died and returned to life three days later ,ditto Jesus.
The Mithraic feast day was thought to be around what is now our Christmas time ..

No, Mithras has nothing to do with it. The apostles and Jesus were Jews. To speak of anything heathen, or refer to it would be blasphemy. This question has been asked hundreds of times, but the answer is still no. Jesus was the fulfillment of OT writings, not some other whatever.
